Q: Do you have to buy another machine to do the flat pearls or is there a changeable base?

Hey there :D I am not QUITE sure about that answer. This machine is for round pearls of various sizes (the thing came with 5 interchangeable screw thingies- to 'match' the pearls that came in the box). So if you attempted to put a 'flat' pearl into the 'holes' of 1 of the screw bolt thingies, chances are, the pearl will get stuck in the screw bolt thing (since its not fully round- its flat). I am not saying it CANNOT be done, but it might give you a headache if it gets stuck!! Give it a shot and LMK :D
