It's perfect for drawing straight lines
This little guy is very handy and sufficiently accurate for the price. It's a decent budget transit. It's perfect for drawing straight lines, but it has some accuracy problems for other tasks: 1) The level on it isn't mounted correctly. I can get it so that it's perfectly level facing north and east, for example, but then it's slightly off facing south and west. If I correct south and west, it's then slightly off facing north and east. Essentially, it's not possible to get it level in four directions, which could spell trouble for spotting accurate elevations. However, as long as I'm only leveling in a 90º range of motion, it's fine. 2) There's something wrong with the degree markers on the bottom. If I draw a straight line with the transit, zero the gauge, and then turn it exactly 90º and draw another straight line, the lines are only 89º apart. I'm not sure how, but that's what I've observed over and over again. Makes it pretty useless for surveying corners of buildings or anything that requires a precise degree measurement.

Not accurate, not repeatable.
Not accurate, not repeatable. Have shot over 100 lines with this device and largely wasted my time. Cannot rotate and return to same angle even though compass scale indicates I did. Design flaw, not a damaged unit. Returned.

Hey, Amazon!
Dear Amazon.com, No one is ever going to buy one of these without at least SOME information. Furthermore, please learn the difference between a transit and a builder's level for the sake of searching out one or the other.

Do not buy for straight
Bought this to build a fence. We got everything square with the house using 6 8 10 method. Squared transit to zero with that. Went 90 degrees and put a stake. Went 180 degrees and put a stake. We pulled a string just to make sure. Wasn't even close. Had the blum bob under transit and it was 10 inches off. On 30 foot set at zero it moves 2 inches either way and is still at zero. That's is not close on that distance. I would send it back but I didn't test it when I order a few years ago. It did however work good for horizontal level. I should have spent more money
