Size:3 Ounce (Pack of 48) Twin brothers Jim and John Thomas purchased the El Pinto restaurant from their parents in 1994 and continue to use the same family recipes created by their grandmother, Josephina Chavez-Griggs. To build on the success of the restaurant and to meet the strong demand for their sauces, Jim and John were motivated to produce them for retail distribution.

Not As Expected
I sincerely try to provide honest reviews and give all products purchased the benefit of the doubt. Aside from the nicely portioned individual servings, I'm unable to come up with any additional redeeming comments for this green chili sauce. After experimenting with the mixture in a dip, I added it as a topping over nachos. The overall taste is very bland - a small amount of heat is detectable, but the tomatoes and green chilies are missing essential flavor. The expiration date is still good and the containers were adequately sealed, so I suppose the lack lies with the intial choice of ingredients. I just can't recommend this particular brand...

This salsa is amazing. It is fresh tasting with a perfect balance of flavor and heat and doesn't have any flowery embellishments that shouldn't crowd out the true salsa flavored of tomatoes, onions, chiles and other subtle taste nuances. Whenever I can't make my own fresh salsa or the garden isn't ready to harvest, I always turn to El Pinto for my salsa cravings. These to go containers are perfect for putting in lunches or carrying to the cafeteria for a salad or anything else that goes well with salsa. Also, each pack comes with one lid that can be used to resell the container- in case you end up not finishing it off in one sitting.

Not much green Chile taste
Having lived in NM for several years I was looking for authentic NM green chile sauce. Knowing and having eaten at El Pinto I felt confident theirs would be good. This was not the case! The tomato flavor was so strong it totally overwhelmed any green chile there was in it. If you’re looking for a very mild tomato based chile sauce this is a great choice. If you’re looking for an authentic NM chile sauce with some kick and not tomato based you’ll be disappointed.

Good Green Chile, Bad Packaging
While the green chile itself is great, the packaging is really bad. I ordered 2 of these packs, and the first set of four had one cup that had been damaged either by the extremely tight shrink wrap or the Amazon packaging, or both. The cups essentially press down on one another, and there's nothing to prevent one of the top cups from pushing into a lower cup, breaking the foil seal.My second 4 pack was worse: seals on two of the cups had been slightly compromised (again, not sure if it was the shrink wrap or the packaging) and both had mold growing where the foil had slightly peeled away.If you want this green chile (and I thought it was pretty good), definitely opt for a different packaging option: the glass jars are likely much more resilient to shipping.

Be aware... as convenient and tasty as this product is, it' isn't 'green chile sauce', I've ordered numerous times and although it's wrapped in green packaging... it's a red salsa!!! A few green chilies for sure... but mostly tomatoes....

Disappointed but ok.
This sauce definitely did not meet my expectations. We recently went to New Mexico and got hooked on chile sauces. The flavor was ok and the heat level was disappointing! We had to put Mexican hot sauce to make it spicer. It tasted more like a mild sauce. It had nice visible chuncks of tomatoes and chile. Would have liked way more chiles than tomatoes. I'll just keep shopping for the right chile sauce to bring back to South Carolina.

Great NM green chile.
This is just perfect when you only need a little sauce at a time and do not want to open a big jar and have it go bad. El Pinto makes great chile products and this is no exception. Highly recommend.

Strange bitter mush; do not buy this.
This does not taste of green chiles; it is just bitter stuff in a little container. I love Mexican food and Tex-Mex and use a lot of chiles both green and red. I really do know what this should taste like but it doesn't.What a waste of money.
