Students: Elementary & Middle School yes👍
I would recommend reading levels for elementary into middle school.— FYI Surrounded by readers who test 3+ grades above actual grade, that may skew my view of the reading levels 😉Purchased for a curious kiddo, she’s always reading and asking questions to understand what a new word means. Sure she knows to look for context clues but that doesn’t always satisfy her curiosity. She wants to dig deeper! She’s that one who will “randomly” start reading the dictionary should it be on hand, it leads to conversations that catch adults off guard.> Example: kiddo was 9 when she read through Laminations “just because”. Shocking me with questions during a nature walk 😳I never know what she’ll come up with next 😂Therefore, I chose to purchase the student dictionary over the regular one, thought it would be geared towards what she’s most likely to encounter verses everything under the sun. Additionally her previous teachers in elementary school had it their classrooms, she would occasionally bring a copy home and really wanted one and ask for her very own copy pretty please. At the time she didn’t take good care of her books; I waited until she showed responsibility with all books before surprising her with this gift. 🤓Kiddo’s face absolutely lit up after unwrapping her very own student dictionary. YAY! It has been useful with middle school homework and referenced while reading for fun.>Her reading level is 9th grade> not actual grade levelSUMMARYRecommend? YesElementary students: YesMiddle school students: YesHigh school students: NoCollege students: NoDurability: good (paperback)- thicker cover- holding up 6+ months use- has wear and tear, expectedOnly in backpack for— weekend trips— road trips— flightsOver all:+ Perfect for intended student+ Great for homework+ Helpful for recreational reading+ Handy reference source+ Doesn’t require data or internet+ Work’s without a screen 😉- Around 8th - 9th grade reading levels it’s notable it— won’t have certain words— is “too simple”— becomes frustrating for advanced students wanting a detailed definition~ I’m pleased with the purchase, my student has continued to refer to her student dictionary. The paperback version is easy to bring with on her travels.

My students were excited!
As a student intern in small groups, my students would come across unfamiliar vocabulary words, and I would define the words for the students. However, I wanted them to know more effectively. They had computers but had limited access as hands-on learning was focused! I decided to buy six dictionaries and show them how to look up their words so they could independently research. They were so excited to utilize them in class and even complete their homework with any extra time left before pick-up.

Fantastic!
Excellent dictionary for kids. I have gifted at least 20 of them. The kids are all thrilled to receive them.

Yes a true memory start

No pronunciation key
Seems like an ok dictionary for "kids 8-11", but I was surprised there's no pronunciation key with the entries. Not bad for $5, but if you want a better quality you may wish to spend more. Has word "exist" but does not have "existential" or "existentialism". Most preteen users don't need such deep thought anyway, lol.
