If you are working on creating a program to make a difference in the community this book will give you a great view of how to approach making an impact on the problem or need you are trying to solve. This is a book from someone that has actually done the work and not just research. Great book, fun to read, gives great insights and tips, its a permanent reference for me. Recommend it highly.

If you do any work that involves strategies for your business or community, this should be essential reading. I have read a lot of books and this one nails the concept of identifying outcomes and measuring them, only at an understandable level. I with I would have come across this years ago.

Once you read it, your life and your work will change forever...
I first heard Mark speak in 2003. Since then, I have asked him to work with many groups and have read and used RBA not only in my work in an education agency but also in my personal life. RBA resonates--it is common sense, yet common sense is often paradoxically hard to find. Once you understand this work, you always are looking for results--you automatically discriminate between effort and effect. This framework is an essential element in public service fields if we are to make progress and move beyond the status quo. This book puts it all together. I highly recommend it!Over the past years, I have had many opportunities to use RBA in my work with groups across our state. Trying Hard Is Not Good Enough helps public agencies cut through jargon and needless paper chases to focus on the most important work--making real differences with real people!Thank you, Mark.

Asks the 7 questions that can make all the difference...
Above all, this is a book that can change forever how one thinks about leadership that makes a difference in this world! As a United Way leader and strategic planning consultant, I have experienced the power of this framework in helping organizations sharpen their goals and anchor how they use precious resources and energy to create the most positive change. This book invites readers into full-fledged imagining of what is possible in their communities, then shows how results-based planning and action CAN "turn the curve" on measures of well-being for individuals and families who cannot bear even one more year of less than our best efforts.
