AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING
Literally just got this in the mail last night which was much faster than I had expected! I got the August and September issue. My son and I opened and were enjoying every bit of it! My son loves to know how everything works and where animals live and what they eat and so much more. So this was perfect! It has beautiful pictures, small facts, random facts like that in Cambodia people eat fried tarantula’s so my son was so grossed out by that. He has checked out every book in the library about spiders and so he knows a lot about them but he said he didn’t know people ate spiders, LOL! My son is 4 years old and these magazines are absolutely perfect for him and fun for us to read together! I highly recommend it to all Parents!!!! Such a joy!!!!

Subscribed and cancelled (a little advanced for my kids) - overall good customer service
I bought the year subscription for $30. They shipped me the first 2 issues together (out of the yearly 10 issues). The magazine is quite nice and full of interesting material, but it's a little advanced for my kid (2 yo). I was worried I am stuck with the subscription, but after they cancelled my order they refunded me $21. I think that's fair. I just wanted to leave this review to let people know that they can cancel their subscriptions and get some of their money back if this is not a good fit for them.

Great for elementary kids
My children love this magazine and we recently renewed. I wouldn't pay full sticker price for it, but when it's on sale, I feel that it's a good value. My children love many different animals and can't wait to read it when it comes. They all take turns paying through it reading and looking at the beautiful pictures. Like others we got 3 magazines at once out of the 10 in the subscription. This is fairly common with a lot of magazines, thus I didn't take away any stars for that. Plus my kids were trading them off for over an hour that night reading quietly. It's great for elementary kids, but I wouldn't advise for much older than that.

So much information jam-packed into each issue!
National Geographic Kids is a great value for the amount of content in each issue! No wasted space in this magazine! Every page is full of interesting facts and photos. My 6 year old gets a kick out of the comics. There is a lot of humor infused into the stories, pictures, and facts to hold the reader's attention. Although the age range is 6+, I think 6 is a bit on the young side. A lot of the information goes over my 6 year old's head. It's also a lot of information per page for a 6 year old.

Children Love It
I am not happy that this magazine began in late October after I was told that the first issue would not arrive until near Christmas. That being said, my nephew and his family love receiving this magazine. It is Nov. 22 and they have already received 2 issues of what was supposed to be a Christmas present! My nephew is 7 and in first grade. His parents find that the magazine is great for discussions, especially at dinner, and that he has begun being interested in different countries and people than his friends, neighbors and relatives. It's a great magazine for both kids and parents. It has something new and interesting for everyone.

Our kids love this, but beware the cross-marketing
When a copy comes our kids (twins age 6) practically rip it from my hands and read and reread the issue. And then spend the next week telling me trivia about various animals and places. The content is OK, a mix of cool animals, technology and history with some pop culture tie ins which is a bit worrying.A recent issue featured Princess Elsa, just in time for Frozen 2. Another had Mulan, just in time for her live action film, and an article on Pixlar's upcoming film onward. This becomes more alarming when I found out that Nat Geo for Kids is no longer owned by the National Geographic society but by 21st Century Fox/Disney. So this can no longer be thought of as a purely educational magazine but part of a multimedia empire's cross-marketing strategy. The constant plugs for Nat Geo's kids books is also annoying, although I generally find their books are pretty good.So it's great to inspire a love of travel, science and reading, but parents should be aware there are some other motivations at work here.

Awesome gift!
I have bought this for the last 2 years for my nephew who reads 3 grade levels above his age and he loves it! I'll be at loss as to what to do for him once in another year or two because this is so awesome for kid who loves to read! I personally think it's an amazing value for the money

7 Year Old Can't Put This Down
I was skeptical about ordering a subscription to this magazine, due to many bad reviews, but Im so glad I ordered! My 7 year old daughter absolutely loves it. From the minute we receive it in the mail, she can't put it down until she's finished the entire magazine. And during that time, she'll tell the entire family all the cool facts she learns from it. My 5 year old son is also interested in it, but his reading skills prevent him from truly enjoying it.I'm not sure why there is so much criticism about the ads, there is only one double page ad in the beginning and another ad on the back page. The magazine is on the thin side, but I think that it's perfect for the age range as there is plenty of content without being overwhelming. We will definitely be renewing this subscription again and again!
