OSTENT Hard Crystal Case Clear Skin Cover Shell for Nintendo 3DS

Fits great, protects the device, wish I'd gotten one years ago.

I'd like to start by saying that I originally got this because I wanted to be able to decorate my 3DS without permanently altering it. This thing is PERFECT for that. It was super easy to put on, feeling very similar to a typical phone case, and it is of extremely high quality. Even though this was bought for cosmetic purposes, let me tell you, my device has been dropped so many times with this on it, and it has zero scratches or imperfections. The case also didn't budge at all. It feels super, super high quality and solid, without being too bulky or heavy. I would highly recommend this case to anyone considering getting it. I would purchase again if I had a reason to lol

Items snapped right into place and look nice on our 3D-S, just make sure you know what size you have first as apparently there were a few different model sizes.

I think that there are a lot of positives with this clear case, and only a few negatives. For starters, the case is fairly sturdy. There's a little bit of flex when you open the hinge, but it's not terrible and definitely wouldn't affect the actual case. After a few months, there are a few scratches on the case, but there is no yellowing and it does protect the console. So, cosmetically it's fine. It's even got extra space for the lanyard slots, so if you've got charms or wrist straps those can stay on the console still. I do have some criticisms. The cutout in the case for the wireless switch is pretty small, and that makes it very annoying to switch it on or off. I'm an adult with average sized hands, so your mileage may vary, but I've had to resort to using the stylus to switch wireless on and off. The volume cutout has a similar issue, but the slider gives much easier than the wireless switch so it's easier to use. Another issue I have is that there's a small gap between the 3DS and the case, and dust and debris get into that very easily. This alone wouldn't be listed as a problem, but removing the case is sort of a weird process. You have to pop the console out from the SD card slot while it's only open a little bit, then you have to go around and take the top screen out from the case. If you're giving this to a kid, they might accidentally break their console trying to remove the case from the top screen first.

I want to make it clear, this is a cheap case. You know it's cheap and that's why you're buying it (it's also really the only option too). Now, the case makes your 3DS look good! I got a clear case to show off the misty pink metallic color of my console. I like how thick and smoother the console feels, but that may cause others to not like it. Only thing to note with the case is it makes it a little more difficult to take your pen out. For those anxious for installation and taking off. It's easy to install. You have to start by sliding the the bottom of your 3ds bumper buttons first, push down, then start with your top screen. Once on, you simply click your top screen on. To prevent micro scratches with dust and debris getting under the case (inevitable), I have to be able to take this off. So as soon as I put the case on, I took it off. It's trickier to take off than put on. Again start bottom up, push the bottom out via SD slot. Once out, hold your 3ds upside down, serial number facing you and press your top screen out from the back side of it. Hope that helps! I made a lengthy review because all the negative ones made me worried but I think you just need to carefully install.

My kid actually got this to decorate and create their own DS cover. The case itself is well made, fits the ds perfectly. The buttons are easily accessible and it seems pretty durable.

Very protective, full coverage, good quality. Great price for this product and provides good protection for my DS.

I recently ordered this clear hard shell plastic case for my Nintendo 3DS, and I am very pleased with how it performs as a basic protective layer. The primary reason I opted for a see-through design was to still be able to see my consile, but protect it from unsightly scratches and scuffs during daily use.
