Adorable patterns for baby sweaters
I bought this book so I could knit cute sweaters for my new grandson. I was delighted to find a pattern for a mini tuxedo sweater among the patterns! I am finishing that sweater now, and he will wear it soon to a family wedding. One thing I will say is that you should read the pattern all the way through before starting. I always copy each pattern step onto 3"x5" index cards, so I will not lose my place. At one point, this pattern says to attach a second ball of yarn. If I had read that instruction before I started, I would have simply ordered a second skein of that color, rather than having to unroll the whole thing and start at the far end, making a second ball of yarn and trying to estimate how much should be in each ball. Also, the pattern calls for 3-needle bind off. That's not a problem, but if you don't have a stash of knitting needle from previous projects, you might not have a spare double-pointed needle lying around. Finally, it would have been helpful, when changing colors for the vest and bow tie, if the pattern had directed the knitter to use the stranding technique to control floaters in the color you are carrying behind your work and to prevent pulling or distorting of the pattern. I'm not a newbie knitter, but this is my first baby sweater. When in doubt, I was able to find great videos on YouTube.

There are number of really cute and wearable patterns for baby boys, girls, and "wait and see when the baby is born" in this well-photographed book. Whether a TKGA Master Knitter or a beginner who just learned garter stitch, this book contains patterns the fiberista will enjoy using. Patterns range from the multiple-skein to the single, so the knitter with months to spare before the baby is born and the knitter who just found out yesterday that the little darling has arrived can use this book to make a delightful knitted present. Even better, the patterns offer a range of sizes for the true procrastinators who start a project when an office mate's pregnancy is announced, but know they won't finish until the baby is toddling about. While the book might seem to be limited, because all of the patterns are knit with Cascade 220 yarn, a savvy knitter, armed with wraps per inch information and some good gauge swatches can substitute yarns of the same weight (so she can knit the worsted merino/cashmere/silk blend yarn heirloom for her Precious, if she wishes), including handspun. Cascade 220, however, is a great inexpensive workhorse yarn in zillions of colorways, including tweeds (barber poled yarns) and "paints" (variegated yarns) that is carried by most LYS (if you don't know what "LYS" stands for, you are not a knitter). Note: If you choose to substitute Cascade 220 Superwash, be aware it is a slightly lighter weight and adjust your knitting accordingly. All in all, this is a good "go-to" baby knitting pattern book. If you only want one baby book in your knitting library, this is a good choice.

fun patterns
I hesitated ordering this book at first because the few patterns that they show were debatable to me however I took a chance and almost all the patterns look beautiful. Two things to note, alot of comments are made about a misleading title. I see alot of books that say "quick knitting"and I dont know about others but nothing for me with knitting is "quick" and I am an avid knitter for sixteen years now so I did not order this book thinking anything about it was going to be very fast per say.secondly the only slight complaint or thing to know is while these patterns are beautiful looking, I noticed alot of them do not offer different sizes which is a bummer. Some of the random patterns have two sizes but I am used to books that offer each pattern in the book in at least four different sizes. now some knitters could probably adjust the size on their own but I rarily have luck with trying to experiment with such things.would I buy it again? yes.

Not "Quick" and not for beginners.
This pattern book is full of gorgeous items for babies and toddlers, but they are certainly not items you can knit in an afternoon. I consider myself to be an intermediate knitter, and yet some of the patterns are so baffling. Either the instructions are too vague or too complicated to be considered as intermediate level patterns. And some need more photos to make the instructions clear. The Sweet Pea cardigan for example is adorable but I would say suitable for an experienced or super experienced knitter. I'm not sorry I bought the book, as it's full of wonderful ideas, but just a word of caution, some of the patterns are very challenging.

Great product, highly recommended, delivered as promised.
This is such a great little book! I love it. I have already knitted 2 of the patterns in this book. They are so useable. The patterns are written to use reasonably sized knitting needles, sizes 5, 6, or 7, unlike some of the patterns that call for size 3 or 4....really? I'm not going to live long enough to complete these....especially for a baby that's going to outgrow it in no time.
