Go to shoes for work
I have been a Salomon user and abuser for many years. They are great shoes, and the speed lace system makes them perfect for quick donning and doffing. This pair has been in use in a 24/72 capacity (EMS) for a little shy of a year and I am surprised at how much the soles have worn.Regardless, I love how comfortable they are, they breathe well, are waterproof (thanks to Goretex) and bodily fluids wash off easily.Highly recommend!

Very good shoe
I purchased these for my grandson who does a lot of walking and running (5-10 miles per day). He loves these shoes!

Very well made, expectations met...
Awesome looking, and great feeling shoe. I agree with others, in the way of fit; runs a little small. I can wear an 11, 11 1/2,or 12...depending on shoe. So I took everyone's advice, and ordered the 12. They fit perfectly, without being too tight. I also agree with the heel being a little loose, as others mentioned. I don't think it will bother me, but time will tell. I'm happy with them overall, despite not yet hitting the trail. A few rainy walks with my dog, have me feeling pretty good about the traction. I'm no extreme sports guy, but I'd say this is a well built, very capable trail runner. I read reviews for 3 days before ordering these. One thing, I wouldn't wear as street shoes too often, you'd wear down the soles prematurely...as they're made for soft trails.

Defective shoe and high left arch on 2 diffent pairs
I purchased these shoes 3 weeks ago for work, where I spend a lot of time on my feet. The fit perfect, although they run a half size large (order half a size smaller than you normally wear). The issue I ran into is with only the left shoe. The tongue is sewn to the body of the shoe at the base, and also has a spandex like material attaching it to the sides. The spandex pulls the tongue down (towards the toe of the shoe) creating a fold at the bottom seem, which creates a painfull pressure point on the top of my foot. The other problem with the left shoe is that the arch feels as if it's oversized. The right shoe feels amazing but the left one leaves me feeling as if I'm standing on a pipe, and becomes quite painfull. I believe this to be a manufacturing defect and would like it replaced as these aren't cheap shoes. I have attempted to contact Salomon directly with no luck. As of right now, unless the respond and replace the shoes on the basis of manufacturer defect, I will not be buying any more Salomon shoes, and will advise others in my field of work to stay away from them.So I have returned the initial pair of these I purchased and recieved the replacement pair today... The replacement pair I recieved have more issues than the initial pair I ordered. The quality control on these must be horrible. I will be returning the new pair, and not ordering another pair of these short of them giving me a pair for free that is defect free.

Fun shoe for casual wear and working out
Great looking shoe for casual wear or for working out! No laces to tie with that black plastic piece to cinch it up. The black piece does rattle a bit when working out unless tucked into the side or under a lace. It took a couple of workouts to break them in with some initial foot soreness. I have flat feet and typically replace insoles at the onset of a shoe purchase. These seem to offer decent support without any additional insoles. The blue part is a mesh fabric that hugs the feet with the primary weight coming from the black part. Traction is good. Can't speak on longevity but I have owned one previous Salomon trail running shoe that held up for a long time. I found the best price on Amazon around the holidays.

Good balance btw a trail running & hiking shoe
I’ve been looking for a shoe with good cushion for a little bit of trail running, but also good traction & rugged enough for climbing rocky terrain, and this is a good balance. I tried Oboz ($160) which are a great hiking shoe, but they didn’t have much cushioning (but do have an excellent sole to protect the feet from sharp, jagged rocks, and crevices). I also tried a New Balance (too much foam), and the Keen Targhee IV (a little too wide for me, and wasn’t impressed with the foam or quality of suede). I’ve settled on these, which are lightweight, breathable, great heel support, and sturdy enough for distance hikes. The only drawback I would say is I’d like a little more hard rubber on the sides of the foot for protection from the crevices. I haven’t found the 5/5 star shoe just yet, but these are worth a try

This particular model is NOT Gore-tex
Be careful. This product is listed as Gore-tex. However, this particular shoe is NOT gore-tex. There are some models in this particular range that are Gore-tex but this one is NOT. Look carefully. If you see the upper of the shoe look like a ‘mesh’, then it is NOT gore-tex. Had to return this one.

They're the real deal, love these shoes.
Arrived a few days late; but, it's probably due to shippers catching up from the weather delays. Otherwise, happy with the purchase, thanks!
