Faber-CastellPaint by Number Cupcake Pop-Art - Complete Paint by Number Kit for Kids

I bought this for my 8 yo old son who loves to mix colors and paint. Although some areas were a bit tiny and hard to paint for his age, the directions were relatively easy to follow and he was able to replicate the cover photo. The painting actually took several hours to complete because we had to wait for some areas to dry before painting around them. It was a nice weekend project. As expected from Faber-Castell, the paint was high quality and opaque and the hardboard canvas was nice to paint on (he felt like a "real" artist). We wished there was a bit more paint to mix though. Overall, he loved the project and proudly displays it in his room. Great intro to Pop Art for my child.

My first grader and I both enjoyed working on this paint by number watercolor kit. There are 7 watercolor pencils that come with this kit, i.e. magenta, red, orange, yellow, green, teal, and blue. The watercolor pencils look very attractive and the colors are nice too, not that I would expect anything less from a premier brand such as Faber-Castell.There's a slip of paper included which indicates how the picture is to be colored, and the numbers are not too small either, which makes for convenient reading for my tired eyes! There's a square printed canvas, an artist paintbrush (though we used other brushes which we already had as well). The kit also comes with a black foam mounting board and adhesive to display the piece once it is finished.The difficulty level is beginner's - I worked on it with my daughter, but this is perhaps geared to ages 8 and up, depending on a child's control of the brush and technique.It does serve as a great introduction to using watercolor pencils though and you'd have a beautiful piece at the end!

A lot depends on the age of the child you were giving this to. First of all the box is large but thin and even though there’s a unicorn on the outside the unicorn is not as colorful as I had hoped. I bought two of these One for my nine-year-old granddaughter and one for my seven-year-old granddaughter. The nine-year-old had no problems painting the picture and hanging it up on the wall oh and all the hanging needs are in the box too. My seven-year-old got a little frustrated because even though she has excellent motor skills she still had wee bit of trouble coloring in all the details , and then using the paintbrush. Basically when they say this is for seven year old they are stretching it an eight or nine-year-old would fare much better. And they would have more patience because this is not a quick picture to color.

I bought this for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas and the Peacock one for my 11 year old daughter. We had never worked with watercolor pencils before and even though the results were not perfect, the finished product came out beautiful and ready to hang. It was a fun to see them "create" their own works of art on real canvas. Great Product, Great Gift.

It takes a little practice to do the different shades of color(darker or lighter) if you are a beginner but it is very easy to figure out. I thought the colors overall looked bright and vibrant and really enjoyed finishing this. My 12 yr old twin girls loved the picture too.

Although we are big fans of the Faber-Castell line of arts and crafts, this project was not among our favorites. Mixing water with the watercolor pencils was messy and produced a blurry, untidy image. There are  better products  to teach the art of watercolor painting. My teen, a devoted colorist and painter, found this art project tedious and unrewarding.Instead, try Faber-Castell’s  Color By Number Love Art Kit , which uses vibrantly colored pencils to fill in a beautiful pop-art image.

I gave this one to my 8yr.old granddaughter, and the peace-sign design to my 13yr.old. They found them great fun, and I think it is a good intro to watercolors. They learn some color mixing, and where is indigo anyway?(only in a rainbow or prism !).The canvasboard makes them easy to work, and the background mat makes them extra special, the kids are already wanting more to give away. We need more designs! I definitely recommend!

This was really great for my daughter because it was easy watercolors. I had never seen water color PENCILS and so that was pretty cool. Watercolors are hard, and so this was a little easier to control the bleeding. Plus she had a lot of fun blending colors and learning how to make different shades.

This was a gift....i assume they are happy with it.

Came perfectly packed and is of a reasonable size. Haven’t tried it as I’m giving it as a gift but I’m satisfied with this purchase !

Very well packaged and made a lovely East gift for my grand daughter who because of allergies can’t eat very much chocolate. Well priced for quality pens etc. She loved it

The best option to relax a little bit and good quality of the products as always with Faber Castell. Plus the price is really good. If you want to give it as a gift for kids, ir is just perfect, since it is easy to follow the instructions to paint the draw.
