Delicious sweet treat for camping or roadtrips
This is one of our favourite camping desserts that we get quite often for when we do camping road-trips. On a cold evening after hiking when you are back at your camp this definitely hits the spot. Especially if you have a fresh apple to chop up and add it. When you do that it just makes the texture all that much better. The only downside to this particular meal is that you need to make it in a pot, and the caramel sauce that bubbles away in it can make quite a mess. So unless you have access to a sink this is not the easiest meal to clean up from.

A hassle but tasty - YMMV
I would say this tastes good for regular food; as a long-term storage food for backpacking, it's great. This is one of the desserts that sees a bit of the daddy-tax when passing it over to my daughter. Only criticism is that it's a bit of a chore cooking it over a fire and cleaning up. If you're like me and your hiking cookware consists of a few sticks and a 750ml stainless steel pot, this is a little impractical. But maybe still worth it. I'm going to suggest you buy a pack, make it at home and decide for yourself if this is the sort of thing that deserves to enter the rotation.

Too heavy, too much food, too much work, and not digestible!
I was looking forward to this for my upcoming backpacking trip. I should have paid attention to the weight before I bought it. At 5oz, this dessert was by far the heaviest backpacker's food pouch I have ever purchased. When I see "2 servings" I generally assume that means 1 serving for a backpacker, but that's not the case here. There's a LOT in here, as foretold by the weight. Also, the amount of work involved with this item is ridiculous, and involves the messiest cleanup of any backpacker's food product I've ever experienced. You have to boil down the sauce into a gooey, sticky sugary mess that takes forever to get out of a pot. And it takes 20+ minutes to make this. Overall, I highly discourage a backpacker (especially a solo backpacker) from purchasing this dessert. Oh -- Did I forget to mention that the apples aren't digestible? Yeah, you know what I mean.

Better Tasting but More Work
This one produces a better tasting apple cobbler than Mountain House. However, it requires more steps to prepare than Mountain House. So it comes down to convenience vs. taste.

Most of the bad reviews are because the preparation is "too hard" or "too long". We love this . yes it is not just add water, you actually have to cook the cobbler but it well worth it. We eat well when backpacking, I make pancakes they are great with peanut butter and Nutella. So to us having to cook a little bet is part of the fun of backpacking.

Saving for a later date..
Received on time, didn't get to use any of my camp food, because the Mosquitoes were so bad, we had to leave the everglades..No ones fault, but if my previous purchases of Backpackers Pantry are anything to go by, I'm sure it will be a hit when I do get to eat it . !!!

Would try again
Not as good as mountain house but pretty tasty

Great Cobbler!
This is not the "Cook in the bag" cobbler I was expecting and does require a bit of stovetop cooking. BUT... this is well worth the effort of dirtying a small pot. I was really impressed with the great flavor and high quality of this item. The taste was great and the apples nice and tender. I will definitely be ordering more of this.
