Best entry-level camera to buy!
I absolutely love everything about this camera. For me, it’s my go-to travel camera. It’s the perfect size and not too heavy at all. The quality of every photo is amazing. I’m still practicing, but even as a beginner, I would definitely recommend this camera as a first one. Just look at the photos I’ve taken and you can already tell whether it’s the right fit for you. I took this camera with me on my trips to Switzerland and Sweden, and it was the perfect travel companion.

Best entry-level mirrorless interchangeable lens camera for the beginner in 2025
Small, easy to use, almost pocketable (in a jacket pocket it is), and what a great value! It's a versatile camera for the beginner, with menus that help you learn photography on the camera! Scene modes, Art modes, AP (advanced photography modes), it's all there, it even stitches panoramas together for you in-camera. This has all the advantages of a point and shoot, in a seriously nice and ergonomic retro body look, with interchangeable lenses. And there are soooo many Olympus/OM System lenses to choose from (most are small and very manageable) Behind all the ease-of-use menus and features, there is also the full set of manual settings for the amateur photographer. Great for selfies but also more serious work. You can definitely grow with this camera. I guess that is why this is Taylor Swift's favorite camera (not kidding look it up), she goes with it everywhere. Love this when I run out and want to bring my smallest easiest to carry "kit", that will always give me pics that are so much better than my iPhone 15 Pro.

Little powerhouse of a camera
This is an absolutely amazing little camera. Small, light weight, excellent image quality quality, easy to use and very simple to get creative! I'm a professional photographer and I do this everyday and have several full frame kits...... But this little guy is replacing the bulky multi lens set ups cause it had more than you need for excellent images.....

Great Little Camera!
I bought this camera for an international trip I recently went on as I wanted to get back into amateur photography. It was compact, light and it took quality pictures. I love the app as it makes it easy to transfer photos online, to your phone, etc. Overall, it was a smaller camera with some professional level features. I’m very happy with my purchase and it was a good value for my money.

So far so good, more later...
just wanted to communicate a quick message. not that i want to focus on negatives but these things jumped immediately as not so great at me when using the camera for the first time. for all of this i subtracted 1 star. From all i was reading i do expect that all other function perform as described. 1. It said charging can be done through USB cable, so i was hoping that for long-term exposure (like astro photography etc) one can add an external battery to keep it going bit NO: "Even if charging is in progress, it stops when the camera is turned on." that is what the manual says and i checked it is true 2. the EVF is activated by eye contact. basically the moment the EFV is darkened. the weird thing is when reviewing images on the LCD and then you look through the EFV to see more details etc the camera switched to the regular recording mode. to see the image in the EVF you have to put your eye on it and THEN switch to viewing mode. on all other Pen cameras i use the EVF-1/2 and it is switched by a button on the EVF which i like better. 3. the battery door has no automatic lock when it is closed, you have to manually move a little slide. also different from previous Pen's. i though it was broken. 4. autofocus seems ok but have not directly compared to my EP5 and EPL9. once thing that bothered me on that older cameras was that they did not focus well on the moon at all which disappointed me a lot (that was with the 14-150mm zuiko). 5. EVF: clearly the external EVF-1/2 have the advantage that they are articulate. meaning you can orient them 90 degrees up which is very convenient for many situations. now that would be great to do here too. or they could have added the port to use the EVF in addition when needed. update1: (2) i found out that the automatic switching of the EVF can be turned off with a button next to it - very good! Update 2, Jan 2 2021 Did my first shooting outdoors. AF works very good compared to my epl9 and ep5. It even focussed very easily to the moon. The 2 dials on the top are very convenient to quickly change key parameters. I explored the HDR function a little but have not seen too dramatic impact. On my phone I use Snapseed for HDR and feel it has more impact on the image. But so far so good. I also played with the Art14,splash color, function and it is working well. More later 2021 january update 2: tried the nightscape mode for the stars. everyone who has interest in that one probably knows the Pleiadies (see picture). this was taken handheld with Zuiko lens 40-150mm, not bad overall. the camera takes 8 frames with 1/10 sec each and combines then. outcome is not bad at all. to get the focus to work i had to point first to another brighter star and kept eh release button pressed half down when pointing then to the barely visible Pleiadies (this was in the city so no really dark sky). this scene mode does not allow for manual focus which would be nice.

Worth the price. Ily TSwift
Honestly it was such a splurge but so worth it. The photos are better than my eyesight, and it’s super helpful that the camera can synch up to your phone directly via Bluetooth and WiFi. The only annoying part is that the lens is so small and it can be hard to keep track of. Overall 13/10. So many friends loved it as well and are going to be purchasing. The direct Olympus website still has the cyber Monday deal ($740 for body and 14-42 lens). I dropped the camera a few times and it rebounded just fine LOL great size and can fit in handbags and jacket pockets.

Great for Beginners
Easy to use and has lots of features that help me as a beginner. Very light and fits well on my hand. Sometimes the automatic viewfinder can get glitchy and not sense that the camera is away from your eye and you need to see through the lcd screen, but a simple wipe of the viewfinder sensor fixes it. This camera might be lacking to a more advanced photographer. Autofocus can be a bit finicky to use depending on the subject, but it does not bother me as much as I don't shoot fast moving subjects.

Poor support
Shooter didn’t work could not depress itthink it had to do with lens There was an error message on the camera I downloaded user manual no error messages on it I downloaded the Olympus app to my iPhone but it could not connect to camera When I started return process Amazon provided a phone number for Olympus that was no longer in service Maybe a great camera but horrendous help around it
