Z-Wave Garage Door Sensor, NO LOGOMonitor the status of your garage door using this Z-Wave® Garage Door Sensor from Monoprice!Z-Wave is an interoperable, two-way RF mesh networking technology used for home automation and security. Battery-powered Z-Wave devices, such as this sensor, "wake up" when triggered and broadcast a Z-Wave alarm signal, which can in turn be used to activate other devices or perform preprogrammed tasks. Any Z-Wave enabled device displaying the Z-Wave logo can be used with Z-Wave devices from other manufacturers. This sensor is designed to detect angular changes, such as would occur when a garage door is opened. When triggered, the sensor sends a wireless Z-Wave alarm signal, which can be used as a simple alarm or as a trigger to activate or perform other functions, such as turning on a light. It also has a tamperproof switch, which causes a different alarm signal to be sent when triggered.Package Contents:• 1x Z-Wave Garage Door Sensor• 1x Bracket Holder• 1x Adhesive Tape• 2x Bracket Mounting Screws• 1x Lock Screw• 1x CR123A Lithium Battery• 1x User's Manual

Works well out of the box wth Samsung Smartthings.
Worked perfectly out of the box with my Samsung SmartThings hub. I installed it on the top panel of my garage door and it does a great job detecting even a partial opening of the door. No issues with the battery life so far either. This was the simplest device of all myZ-wave devices to set up, given you just stick it to the door.Update: 1.5 years later and the battery is still showing 100%! It doesn't use much power.

I have Vera Edge and it was easy to pair and has worked perfectly-UPDATED - STOPPED WORKING
I have to change my review: I installed this in February and it stopped giving the correct reading in May. I re-associated it and still was stuck on open. I banged it and it worked. Then it stopped working again. Banged it and it worked. Clearly defective. I'm so disappointed as I thought I had found a model that actually worked for more than a few months.

Still working great!
I got this on 2018 and it works flawlessly on my garage door even now in 2023. I possibly changed the battery couple of times and that’s it. It works great with samsung smartthing

I interface it to my Samsung Smart Things hub via a z-wave protocol
I use this on the main door of my 3 car garage. I wanted a device to alert me of when door was opened and when it was closed. This fit the bill. I interface it to my Samsung Smart Things hub via a z-wave protocol. Whenever the garage is opened I get a text message sent to my smart phone. Also get a text message when it is closed. Samsung smart phone app, also keeps a chronological history of dates and times. Very handy. Simple to interface and setup. I placed it on top of my garage door so it is horizontal (closed) when door is closed and moves vertical (open) when door is open. I have had it for a couple of months now and works pretty well. I have had a glitch were sometimes it goes off line but seems to reconnect itself eventually. I can't say what is to blame here. Samsung, this device, my wireless network or what. You could probably set another z-wave protocol or IFTTT to turn on house connected wifi bulbs or something when door is open. Endless possibilities with all this cool home automation. For $20 bucks, well worth it.

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH FRONTPOINT SYSTEMS
I picked this up to try and get alerts when our garage door is left open. I assumed that because it's z-wave and says "sensor" that it would work like a sensor. Turns out that z-wave devices really only act as the y in "if x, then y" scenarios. True sensors like doors and glass break can trigger events such as notifications and z-wave products turning on, but the z-wave themselves are passive. This means I have no way of seeing it in the app that the garage door sensor is "on" and I cannot be notified if it's left open. I added it the system easy enough, but cannot do anything with it.I called Frontpoint and confirmed it's unsupported... and not in that "unsupported but still works" like all my other devices. I'm going to return it and replace it with Frontpoint's approved garage door sensor (NOT controller, just sensor). I went off-brand to try and save $20, but it didn't work. Oh well.

otherwise it paired fairly easily. install was a breeze
This product has been working well for a couple weeks now. It seems accurate in the short time its been in use. fingers crossed it holds up in the changing temps in the garage. my only gripe was the battery. when i set it up it had a battery (still in a package) that was drained to 33%. I assume its an old battery that has drained over time. otherwise it paired fairly easily. install was a breeze. no complaints on functionality. i hope it stays that way.

Works great so far!!!
I first tried the Ecolink tilt sensors (in conjunction with my Samsung SmartThings Hub (v2) but had unreliable results with those so returned and then ordered these. I've only had them for 3 days so far but they have worked 100% so far. They also immediately connected to my Z-wave network without any issues. I will update this review in another week or two if anything changes but I can already tell they are much more reliable than the Ecolink tilt sensors I tried.

Works with fine with openHAB2
No problems with openHAB2. Using three on garage doors. After three months with doors opening about four times a day battery percentage is in the nineties. Hopefully the batteries won't suddenly drop. Will update review after the winter as garage temperature can drop into the twenties.I did have to put a piece of tape to hold them in the mount. They were sliding out when opening the door and it stopped. No big deal.
