This scale is probably alright, but mine (ordered thru ScalesGalore via Amazon) didn't come calibrated. It was weighing 45+ lbs light (4 people got on it; it was consistently off that much for everyone)! Reading the instructions, i found out i couldn't try to calibrate it myself without voiding the warranty. So i paid to send it back and then had to pay a 20% restocking fee (that, of course, it not mentioned anywhere on Amazon when you buy it!). The scale is very heavy/sturdy, but the weight does fluctuate a lot when you're standing on it (up and down 5-10lbs). Do yourself a favor and don't order this here unless you are REALLY REALLY SURE you want it. There's no guarantee you'll get one that's set up right, and returns are a pain!

I've used this brand scale before, and it works well. My issue is with the distributor. The scale didn't work at first and luckily I had a similar A/C adaptor, that I was able to use with it. At first I tried contacting the company per the warranty but I never got a call back. Good product, but I'd choose one of the other sellers.

Works okay for a high capacity scale. The reason I only give 3 stars is because the weight fluctuate's 2 to 3 pounds depending on how you stand on it. If you get off then get back on it might weigh you a pound or two different than the first time. Also it weighs me 10 pounds heavier than all of the scales at my doctors offices. If you need the capacity its pretty good since theres really no other scale that comes close to this price range with this capacity.

It is difficult to find value priced high capacity scales. This one seems to have some slight accuracy issues, I can step on it three times in a row, and I usually get 2 different weights, but always within a pound. If you're just looking to get a general reading of your weight loss rather than a precise measurement, this is a super great value.

The Siltec WS-1000L High Capacity Scale has proven to me its ability to retain accuracy for years without being re-calibrated. I actually purchased this item from Scales-Galore (through Amazon) in March 2008 and I am just now reviewing this item after using it for the last 7+ years and I can honestly say that the Siltec WS-1000L High Capacity Scale is still performing fantastically and the accuracy is superb even after all these years. The Siltec WS-1000L scale is made from electroplated carbon steel to accommodate a wide range weight capacity from 1 to 1000 lbs.making it usable in a wide variety of circumstances as needed. For a good example of the scales ability to keep an accurate calibration, we check the accuracy of the Siltec scale we own by comparing its results to the results of the medically calibrated and re-calibrated scales at our doctor's office whenever my wife or I go the the doctors office and have happily found our Siltec WS-1000L High Capacity Scale matches the results of the scale at our doctors office EXACTLY every time so far, at least, for the past 7+ years. We can't ask for better accuracy than that in my opinion! If you are looking for a well-built accurate scale for shipping large packages or even as a home scale, although the scale platform size (15 x 15 x 2.7") might be considered too large for some bathrooms if that is where you wanted to place it, why not consider checking out the Siltec WS-1000L High Capacity Scale for a wide-range of uses whether for small or extra large weighing needs.

Just like previous Reviewers Warned! - Yes I took the chance of ordering this scale despite heading the warnings from a few other reviewers stating their scale arrived with the calibration all messed up. Guess what? Mine did as well. I did contact the company and they did call me back. They gave me the option of returning it to them for calibration AT MY EXPENSE! Also I was told that I had to pay RETURN SHIPPING back to them. This left a bad taste in my mouth. Of course I HAD to receive a bad one. The tech support number they give you to call is some man in California I assume who works out of his house. I left a few messages on his phone but never got a call back. Again bad business. To add to the misery of this experience when I carefully opened the box the foam packing was apart in pieces. I was told I would need to TAPE them back together and send it in the same box if I wanted to get it serviced? What??? Now that scale just sits. I can't find anyone locally to calibrate it. If I can find someone that weights exactly 200lbs and can stand on it maybe just maybe I can try to do it myself and well that would void the useless warranty .hmmm. If you buy this scale do not purchase it from this seller on Amazon. Buy it locally or a place that will take care of you if the calibration is off. Save yourself a lot of hassle and misfortune wasting almost $300 on a piece of dead weight you cannot use.

Beware of calibration problems when shipping through UPS. I recieved mine with the calibration off by 50 pounds. Lucky for me the Distributor is 1 hour from my home by car. I took it to them and was fixed to perfection. But for those who do not live in Northern California beware of potential calibration change during shipment. And the hassle you may have with all the shipping back and forth to fix it! Otherwise GREAT scale GREAT VALUE!!
