Don't Buy until you know they will approve your business
This is my first ever Amazon product review after almost 10 years as a personal and business customer. I bought this device before having an approved account with SumUp. I have been in business for 11 years as a tour boat operator, contracting with both government and non-profit entities. Recently, I decided to expand my business to include a sunset sail, and purchased a new boat. I decided to give SumUp a try to process credit cards remotely for this new venture. I purchased this device, and signed up for an account online. The first indication of a problem came that same day when SumUp sent me an email asking for clarification on whether I was charging people for future services or collecting when services were rendered. I was surprised this was an issue as tour companies often do it both ways (whatever the customer desires), but answered that generally, people would be charged at the time of the cruise. Then I waited a week with no service and no contact. The home page of my account dashboard said that due to heavy volume there were delays in processing applications. I eventually called and spoke to someone in customer service who said they could see that I had responded to the query and that someone would email me that day. Nothing. So instead I opened an account with Square, which took all of 8 minutes, and began processing cards that day. I had to manually enter the info and pay a higher percentage, but at least I was up and running (my Square card reader has been ordered and will be here in two days, offering about the same percentage overall). When I finally heard from SumUp, they informed me that they could not open my account due to the type of business I was running. I had seen another reviewer complain that her gift shop was denied an account. For the life of me, I cannot fathom what the objection to tourism and gift shops might be. What I do know now is that Square, which asked the same questions about my business as SumUp, does not have any issues with my industry. I should have gone with Square in the first place, as many of my friends in the industry suggested. SO, if you're considering SumUp, get your account approved well in advance of needing it. Better yet, use Square and avoid unnecessary delays.

Works fine and have had no issues
This is my 2nd one. I run a small mobile beverage truck (coffee, smoothies, soda etc). I mainly work swap meets, farmers markets and occasional street fairs and festivals. I have used Sumup since the start of my business in 2019. I have never had a major issue while at an event with a transaction. Occasionally my wifi hotspot service drops and I need to reboot...but thats a cell phone issue and not a SUMUP issue. I dropped the 1st device in the sink thus I needed the 2nd one. Its easy to use and customers like that I can accept just about any payment they have. I only use it once or twice a month but I am completely happy with it. I am eagerly awaiting the newer version and I will be one of the 1st to order it. I've read some of the very negative reviews on here and I feel sorry for those who have had issues. However I have been at events (2 I can remember) and merchants have had major issues with other card readers and they had to virtually shut down as some of the events were cashless events...whew! For the money and for the fact that I pay per transaction and not a monthly fee (some months I don't use the card reader at all) this works great for me and my business. I have not had an issue with getting payed from Sumup...I guess I am able and willing to wait the 2-3 business days for the money to show up in my account. Actually I have only had to wait 2 days on average (unless there is a major bank holiday involved). I hope this review helps and I wish everyone good business days....MAKE LOTS OF MONEY!

Tenía dudas para comprarlo ya que vi varias reseñas malas, pero de verdad que funciona super bien, se tardaron un poco en aprobar todo para poder utilizar el card reader pero una vez aprobado funciona todo super bien.Importante que tengan su negocio registrado para poder utilizarlo.

Customer Service
I got this product because of its quality and durability, and don't get me wrong all of that is great. But what is not great is the customer service. The customer service team is the worst that I have ever had to deal with. They say that it will take them 1-2 days to verify. My verification process started on May 30th and as of today June 8th still nothing ( and you cannot take cc orders on this until the verification process is complete) I called in one evening at 5:55pm because they do not close until 7pm, they kept me on hold until about 6:45pm, said that I could hit 1 to hold my place in line and they will return my call, as of today still no return phone call. I call them, I was given a time frame of 24 hours, of which this matter will be resolved. 28hrs later, still nothing, I called backed, the agent said that the other agent should have not given me a time frame of 24 hours. I said why because you all are free with passing out time frames, because you all give a time frame of 1-2 days for verification, so don't blame the other agent if she felt free to lie as well. So, I asked to speak to a supervisor, well as you guessed it NO supervisors in the building at all. The agents have free will to say and do whatever they want. I hung up and called right back (hoping to get someone else, we all have done it). Well, well lucky me I got the same person. I told the agent at SumUp that I didn't care how great their product was, if the customer service stinks. Then the whole product is a no go for me, cancel my account, I'm sending this product back, and I expect a speedy refund. And the agent still asked me to take the survey at the end of the call. YEAH!!! I WILL TAKE YOUR SURVEY SumUp!

Game changer
This product is a game changer. I am able to keep track of all purchases rather using cash or credit. The best part is being able to put my inventory on the app to keep track of pricing. I offer numerous products and so many people ask last minute what somethings cost. Since my business is social media and word of mouth before I didn’t always have the information on me now I can just bring up the app and look at my shelf.
