Don't buy. The software to run this is full of malware. The manufactures WEB site is also full of malware. You can't run this engraver without the software. It is useless.

 This Zeta 500mw laser engraver is a fantastic little gadget to have around. I own a woodworking business that I am just getting off the ground, and I use this device to engrave my logo on wooden items like tags that I give with my furniture. I will be working on wooden business cards as well soon. It has opened new creative doors for me and now I’m always on the hunt for new materials to engrave on.The engraver is small enough to fit on my desk and comes out the box mostly pre-built. There isn’t a whole lot of setup involved. You just take it out of the box, install the software and drivers, and connect it with the two USB cables and you are on your way to engraving. Nothing hard about it at all.The engrave it gives is very sharp if you get the focus correct, which is easily adjusted by turning the laser lens left or right until the laser point is at its smallest.So far I have engraved on leather, wood, and plastic and being a woodworker that is my favorite medium to engrave on. My logos come out sharp and all the small details are there.The table on the engraver is large and comes with two rubber bands which are necessary to strap whatever you are engraving to the table top. Adjusting the item to the correct location is as easy as moving rubber bands around.The software also gives assistance in setting up your work piece by giving some location assist functions. You can tell the laser engraver to go to the exact middle of your drawing, and you can tell it to trace the boundaries of your drawing so you know exactly where the drawing will be engraved on your piece. This is a very handy feature and makes it easier to get perfect engravings every time.I’ve found the laser in this engraver to be sufficient in power, and I haven’t had to turn the burn time up very far yet to achieve a solid dark burn in my materials. A more powerful laser might be able to engrave faster, but that isn’t necessarily a priority for me.My fiancé is a creative type and her eyes lit up when I first showed her this engraver working. She is now thinking of all the ways she can use it as well. This thing stinks! i go on the website to get the software update and it's so bad i would have to take down my anti-virus ware to get it to download and it will screw up your laptop/PC if you do get to download it so i recommend not buying it.

 Laser engraving is a new interest that I have and this model is a great entry level learning tool to feed the passion.I will say that I did have a few issues installing the software for the burner. The software and the sight say to disable your Antivirus software (which is always scary) so I used my older laptop and took a chance. I downloaded the software and ran it through a couple of virus checkers and they flagged it because it is a driver and needed permission to make the changes for it. Once installed I was off and running in no time.The print area is on the small side but it works very well and has very crisp and fine details.You will need to make a few adjustments here and there, such as adjusting the print speed and fine tuning the laser focus, which is made very easy with the focusing ring attached to the laser head. This is easy to do and is determined by the materials you are using and the quality of the image you are trying to achieve.This is a great way to get into the field of laser engraving, burning, or cutting as a beginner. This engraver will not cut through anything heavier than paper or some card stocks on slow settings but it does a great job burning an image (stock or custom) onto quite a few surfaces. A quick search on YouTube will give you a million different projects that you can do with this size of engraver.Overall this is a good entry level laser burner and a good way to get started with. I suggest trying this one if you are curious about the concept of laser burning or engraving on a budget.*I received this product at a reduced cost for providing a fair review.
