Excellent product; fantastic company.
I have never written a product review but my experience with this product is worth telling - and hopefully helpful to those that view it...I ordered the Scaredy Cut clipper set in December 2011, received the item in just a few days, and set out to use the largest comb (#6) with clippers on Jake, my 8 month old 60 lb labradoodle. While trying to change the combs out (it came with the smallest comb installed), the comb plate broke off the scissors and the plastic clip broke on the comb - wow I thought - complete junk!...After reading the few 'not so good' reviews here at Amazon I noticed that Matthew Michel of the Scaredy Cut company had replied to all with genuine concern and offers of assistance. I contacted the company by email immediately and received a response from Matthew within 3 hours. Here's what I was told - the plate is attached to the scissors with two spot welds that are extremely strong when in the correct place. Occasionally the spot welds are misplaced and the contact is weakened - which happened in my case. In addition the combs can be stiff at first use but once broken-in should work fine. Matthew suggested running them under warm water and pre-flexing so the combs are more pliable when attaching to the plate. Finally he offered to ship out a replacement set immediately with combs that he would pre-flex personally.I received the replacement kit in a few days with all combs pre-flexed and ready to go. Placed the #6 comb on the clippers and set to work. It took me about 2 hours total to do the whole pup - worked in 20 minute intervals with breaks between - I'm guessing a bit over an hour of actual cutting - enough to get a pretty good blister. Then did some trimming around the neck and face with smaller combs. I cut an incredible amount of hair - even clogged the vacuum cleaner! This was his first cut so I expect that maintaining it will be a bit easier and not so time consuming.Considering I have no previous experience with pet grooming, Scaredy Cut worked EXTREMELY well. Nothing describes the results better than a picture so I posted `before' and `after' shots with the product image at the top of the page. I didn't have the greatest `before' image, but I think you can tell Jake had an abundance of fur.The product worked perfect for me. Jake is much happier (and cooler!) without all the hair, and looks better too! The response and genuine concern from the company is exceptional. I highly recommend it for anyone who can't - or doesn't want to - use electric clippers, or shell out the money for professional grooming.

Great grooming tool
UPDATE: I was contacted by the seller and they sent me a replacement set for free! The new set works great! I think I definitely got a defective set. Now I am able to cut my dogs hair no problem and very evenly. Thank you very much Scaredy Cut!Original review:I bought this because of all the great reviews. And I watched at least five videos to make sure I was using them correctly. I'm not sure if I got a dull or used pair, but they don't cut effectively. It takes two or three times to cut a lock of my dogs hair, which is not too thick. And when I try to do the quick cutting motion, it doesn't cut very well at all. I got a blister on my finger from taking so long to cut my dogs hair. I just missed the return window by a week so I'm stuck with a mediocre grooming tool. The small scissors work well though.

A great product, just not quite perfect.
I like this product. It's well designed and frees me from the fear that I'm accidentally going to cut my dog with the scissors when grooming her. They arrived sharp and the combs fit on the scissors snugly. There are two areas where this product could use some improvement, however. First, the finger holes are small. I suppose that the handles are optimized for ladies with relatively small hands, but for my ham fists, it was hard to fit my fingers into the handles. I managed to do it, but I had to remove the inner linings (you can see these comfort linings in black on the photo) of the scissor grips. Surprisingly, without the comfort linings, the handles do wear on your fingers. I think I'll sand those grips a bit with my Dremel tool. Second, it would be nice if the combs could be fit to either side of the shears. Granted, this is a review after I tried the grooming just once, so I'm far from an expert on the matter. Still, whenever I try to give Godiva (my Boykin Spaniel) a haircut, she suddenly thinks it's a dance practice. It can be difficult to get the right angle to cut against the grain of her fur in certain areas without using the unguarded side of the shears. So I found myself using this product left-handed at times. In summary, these worked far better than any clippers that I've ever tried. I do definitely recommend the product. But I think that it would benefit from an XL version for those with big hands and it would be nice if the opposite blade could fit the combs as well. A great product, just not perfect in my opinion.

Decent, will use, but has flaws
Do they work? Yes, not bad.For the cutting itself, it doesn’t work too poorly. My dog was less scared of it than he is of an electric buzzer but still a bit freaked. It’s pretty difficult to get a super even cut especially around some spots that aren’t flat, but I don’t mind that too much. It is annoying at certain angles sometimes because you can only use the comb on one side of the scissor. That can be tough with a dog trying to hide from you as you cut so you work with what you can get angle-wise. Also sometimes the scissor doesn’t cut the hair and just bends it at a certain angle with a bit of hair, but usually can get it to cut if you adjust amount of hair or position of scissors, etc.The reason my rating is poor is that it’s tough to use them. They are super small on the fingers and uncomfortable to use so it’s a bit like cutting with children’s scissors. They are also a bit heavy so the weight paired with the small finger holes takes a toll on your hands quickly. As said earlier, the cut isn’t perfect and it’s not easy to use on certain parts of your dog like under ears and on legs since they aren’t not flat surfaces.Honestly I did like it despite its faults, but could use some improvements. Would recommend for dogs scared of grooming but just be aware this may not Be the most life changing grooming tool that leads to a super easy trim.

Great item
This thing is great when you get the hang of it. Very minimal learning curve, scissors are safe and sharp enough to effortly cut through thick hair. No more freak outs because of the sounds and vibrations of the clippers.
