I love my Bear Butt!! UPDATE one year later
Bear Butt Double Parachute Camping Hammock: UPDATE: This week marks one full year of sleeping in my Bear Butt Hammock every night, in lieu of a bed. (Technically next week, but I didn't want to forget) I just re-read what I wrote last year and there is nothing I want to change or add except possibly this little anecdote. Next month I will be spending a couple of weeks in NYC. I just bought another hammock stand to take with me to use in place of the hotel beds. By having a second stand, I don't have to dismantle this one, plus it will be shipped up in advance. I Love my Bear Butt so much, I don't want to do without it. Plus, wouldn't you take your bed with you if you could? :-D Thanks Bear Butt!! By the way, I did see some questions about getting a stand on a couple of Bear Butt pages and this is the one I use, available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015ZK6VA2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . (Zupapa Hammock Stand Fit for 12-15ft. Hammock, 2 Person Heavy Duty 550 LBS Capacity with 2 Steel Chains 1 Carry Bag) I use Bear Butt Straps instead of the chains that come with the stand because they don't make noise and they are just fantastic straps! Soft and Strong! Go Bear Butt Go!! Below is the original review, intact from one year ago: I cannot say enough about how much I love my Bear Butt hammock(s). It is exhausting to see all of the options you have on Amazon and of course everyone claims to be the best. I bought Bear Butt because of their size and load rating. I'm a pretty big guy, (6'4", over 200) so if it doesn't say specifically that it is big, I won't bother. Often enough even when they do say big, it doesn't mean big to me. But Bear Butt delivers! The hammock is 10' long and very spacious. I bought a standalone frame and I sleep in it every night in my apartment. It is super comfortable and the material is luxurious. I now have three Bear Butt hammocks! I keep one in the Jeep - you just never know. I use one every night in my apartment and I bought a backup for that one. The inside one is the All American which is beautiful - Stars and Stripes. I just had the feeling that would be limited edition, and if anything ever happened to it,... well, let's not think about that. The outside one is blue and grey. Recently I bought a second kind of hammock stand so I could hang when I travel for work. I intended to use it in hotel rooms etc. It was made by another manufacturer with a solid reputation (ENO), but it was too small for the Bear Butt. So I bought one of theirs. They were both ENO, who, by the reviews seems like they might be kings of the hill. I could not have been less impressed. The stand was of good quality, but too small. The hammock was horrible. It was small (9'-3" according to their literature), and though it claimed to be a double nest, there was no way I was getting someone else in it. It was a coarser fabric than the Bear Butt and it generated static electricity like you wouldn't believe!! Not the case with my Bear Butt. I now have three Bear Butt hammies, two sets of Kodiak Straps which are incredible, a BB Bug net, two rain flies and one plastic, solar powered dancing Bear Butt bear. I wish they would make an under quilt to fit their hammies, but we'll see. I would Highly Recommend Bear Butt products and I don't impress that easily. Go Bear Butt! By the way, don't let the low price fool you. Once in a great while you actually get great quality at a low price. This is one of those times. Inexpensive. NOT Cheap. Hang Safe

Great Hammock!
Love this hammock!! So comfortable and spacious as a big bodied person. Was an easy wash when I got annoyed with the amount of dirt on it and held up well through the washer and my continuous use throughout the warmer months.

I love this hammock
Editing after using for 10 days of camping.....I love this hammock more! The easy set up, long straps you can buy separate are just fantastic. I intentionally skipped by campsites that didn't have trees because I couldn't set up my Bear Butt hammock. Love this and it was enjoyed by the entire family, 2 and 4 legged. I love this hammock! I have wanted a hammock for years and finally used an upcoming camping trip as a reason to buy one. When browsing through the multiple choices Bear Butt caught my attention but so did the reviews on quality and customer service. Those reviews were spot on! This is one nice hammock at a fraction of the price of comparable ones. I'm talking a good sized fraction too like 1/2 or 1/3 not the ridiculous fractions like 1/457. When the hammock arrived I stared at it for a bit because I never can get anything back into the original carrying case correctly. It always looks like the item vomited part of itself out of the bag. I didn't have anything to worry about, after testing the hammock out it easily fit back into the attached carrying bag with room to spare. The bag being attached is beyond fantastic because I know if it wasn't I'm sure it would be lost at some point. I ordered the hammock straps from the same company and they are a great pairing. I was set up and relaxing within minutes, and I've never set up a hammock before. I'm a bigger girl so I often worry about true weight limits or if I'll fit on some items and that was a zero worry once I climbed into the hammock. The hammock held me well, and maybe a little too well because I was so comfortable I didn't want to get out. I did see some reviews where the person did not feel this was a true double hammock and that was not my experience. Like I said I'm a larger woman and I fit in this comfortably with enough room to spare I was able to share the space with a 10 year old and my blue heeler with plenty of room still on the sides. I am excited to take this hammock with us on a camping trip next month to Utah and Colorado and will update my review once it really gets some use. I know the claim is this can withstand a bear but I'd like to offer one better. This hammock can withstand a cattle dog and that really says something. In my pictures you can see Teague the cow dog not only loves this hammock but she give it two paws up. You can also see the space left over with an average size pre teen inside of it, which there is a lot of space so I would consider this to be a double hammock.

Amazing hammock, amazing deal!
I bought this hammock as an upgrade to my older eagle hammock... And to be the base layer of my new hammock camping system.. I am very happy about my purchase and my decision to go with a "lesser known" company than some of the other parachute hammock companies... The size of the hammock is wonderful.. Nice and roomy.. I'm 6'1 and was able to lay any way I wanted and was pretty comfy... In fact I've slept many hours in this hammock in the past 4 days.. The quality is very good all the seams are solid and strong the straps that anchor to the D hook are "continuous loops" which allow you a couple options for hanging the hammock. When I hung the hammock up in my yard and layed in it for several hours a day and slept overnight in it 2 nights over the past 4 days which have been continously raining days.. with a rain fly covering the hammock.. It did not get wet the ends where it hangs at the rope stayed dry and no pooling inside the hammock at my feet or head... When I opened up the Hammock for the first time there were only a few long hanging threads that I easily took care of and cleaned up... And the D hooks are a bit heavy so I switched those out with some lighter ones I have (for backpaking) but if that's not a concern then its not a bad thing at all. This Hammock held up amazingly over the 4 day rain ridden "test" I put it thru to make sure it would hold up good on my backpacking trips... I highly recommend this hammock to the people I know and will most likely buy another one from them.

Amazing first hammock experience
I'm by no means a hammock expert, this was actually my first hammock. I learned how to set it up using Bear Butt's how to set up your hammock video, and after probably watching it 9999 times extra slow I finally got it down! Anyway, this is an awesome hammock, I looked at a lot online and found this one was my favorite because of how much space it had, great customer service, and the huuuge amount of colors available. So far everything has been great aside for a few set backs, hence the four stars. I noticed it came with rope instead of straps, which work just as well, however they've been known to damage trees which technically goes against the "leave no trace" policy at many camp sites. My ropes have also become a little frayed from less than even 5 uses only by me (I'm hoping I don't weigh that much!). Buuut I'm not sure if this is even something to worry about. The hammock itself is made up of 3 beautiful colors and it has plenty of space, (I can actually lay diagonally on it, so lots of space) only downside is that for some reason there's tiny little holes in it. They're not super noticeable or worrisome, but still concerning since they were there when I bought it new. I've also brought this hammock hiking with me and it's not only lightweight, but super fast to set up. And the ropes and hammock itself fit in the bag, which is pretty convenient. The hammock even came with a pretty cool sticker which looks awesome on my laptop and lets people know about what brand hammock I have, so a win for both of us! All in all, I'd still buy this hammock again, I don't see these set backs as particularly huge. I'm pretty excited to use this thing all the time now!

Bad A** Bear Butt!
I'm difficult to please, but BB did it! Best budget hammock out there, and it might just shake that eagle out of its nest! I prefer comparing apples to apples so I also bought a Wise Owl Double as a gift, purely based on color options. The BB measures about half a foot longer than the Wise Owl Outfitters Double which is listed at 10.5 ft. Turns out the BB has 10 ft of hammock material, when you add the cordage and straps, it comes in at 11ft! Also the stitching is smoother on the BB, less bunched than the WOO Double Owl, see the pic BB thread is black and WOO's is white. This seems like a small detail, but that seam really cuts in on the WOO, where the BB seams disappear! The carabiners are identical on these two, as is the provided extra cordage for hanging. The material on both also seems very similar and very soft. If you care, the other hammock in the pic is a Grand Trunk Cabellas Double. It's listed at 9ft, was $49 on sale at Cabellas, and comes with the nice straps. Apparently you give up 1.5 ft of comfort for the awesome straps. That is not a trade off I'm willing to make again. Even at 5'5" and 128 lbs I've discovered, for me, a longer/wider hammock is much more comfortable. This BB hangs in my daughter's room, she loves it! I can't wait to buy more as gifts when they come back in stock. Maybe there will be some additional color options in the future! The fact that it comes in only a few colors (comparatively speaking) is my one and only complaint! Seriously nice hammock at a seriously stellar price. I don't know about durability yet, but I know out of the box, it's a winner! This is a real review from a real customer! I paid full price, but I can't wait to use the coupon they sent after I purchased this one (as they do for everyone)!

Join the Bear Butt Team FAST!!!
I started off with a single cotten woven hammock, then upgraded to a single nylon hammock from walmart. I needed a double wide to support my girlfriend and myself and I decided to go with Bear Butt. I couldnt complain with the price since my friend bought an enos for $90 I thought I had nothing to lose. This is by far my favorite Mock and I wont buy any other brand. I like the style and the way Bear Butt markets themselves as a humorous, young, and growing company. Most companys are straight by the books and boring. Unlike Bear Butt, they definitely stand out with their content, adding humor to the mix. It seems like a very fun company to work for. That being said I love my OG Bear Butt. Having it be Double Mmock is the way to go because you can completely enclose yourself and become a caterpillar during metamorphosis. Its lightweight and easy to set up. I recently go The Scout by using the burn policy that Bear Butt offers. I had a hammock from walmart that was not cutting it and thats when I found the OG on amazon. After loving the OG I decided to get rid of my other hammock that was taking up space in my closet. I put it to good use and burned it on my next camping trip and Bear Butt came in with the clutch and sent me a Hammock of my choice. I noticed that the Bear Butt Logo is on both sides of the bag so I don't have to flip it over when I want to take an awesome picture of me in Hawaii. I also noticed the new design of where the carabiners hook onto which seems extremely sturdy and well made. As I stated in my other review of the OG I would recommend a Bear Butt over any other companies 100x over.

High quality in a low budget
I bought this hammock a few months ago, my first one ever. Well I finally got to use it over a four day camping outing in the forest. The hammock is extremely strong. I'm a big man 290lbs and it held me with no problem. My son also tried it and loved it. I suggest you buy their Kodiak hammock straps. I just ordered them today for our next outing. The ropes that come with the hammock are maybe 3/8" in diameter. Even double looping around the trees they cut into the bark. Also they stretch a lot. I had to re-tie the knot to shorten the length at least 4 times. Each time my butt was touching the ground and had to get up again to re-tie. The rope gets so tight it sounds like a bass guitar string and is heck to untie. I had to use pliers to undo it. Next time I'll use my head and use the Kodiak straps. The hammock appears to be well built and definitely large enough for two people but works well for 1. I'm sure this would hold someone much larger even maybe 500lbs. The BearButt hammock fits in a nice attached stuff sack and is very easy to do. It's amazingly small and would travel well in a day pack or backpack. I can see why there are so many 5 star reviews with the quality and lifetime guarantee!
