From the small screen to the big screen
My wife and I run a small karaoke business mostly for fun. At one of the venues we frequently set up at, the owner asked if there was a way to put the words for the karaoke songs on to one of the big screen TVs as well as the monitor we currently used for the singer so that people could follow along. After checking out what connections were available on the TV (S-Video) I started looking around on the internet to see what was needed. I knew I would need some kind of converter to change the signal from the laptop (SVGA) to the S-Video that the TV required. While I was shopping for a converter box I saw that there were many differet units available in all kinds of price ranges. After much reading of specifications for the different devices, I made my decision to go with the Kanaan PC VGA to TV converter. When the unit arrived a few days later, I immediately plugged it into our laptop to test it out. It came with all the cables needed to get it up and running and within minutes I had displays on the laptop, the external monitor and a TV. I was impressed with how simple it was to get up and running and the display through the device was nice and clear. The next test was to use it in an actual performance. We got all of our equipment setup and I plugged the device in (using a longer cable that I purchased separately to reach the 52" TV up on the wall). The picture came up nice and clear. We even started putting some advertising on screen for upcoming events. The venue owner was very impressed. We have also used the Kanaan unit for graduation and wedding parties to display slideshows on TVs. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone who needs to get a VGA signal converted to TV.

VGA to TV
I have been using this little product for about 3 weeks now and so far I am very impressed. It was simple to connect and setup. All I had to do was connect the cables and turn the TV on the correct input and then turn the laptop on. The laptop auto detected the device and adjusted the screen resolution to the required settings. I did some minor adjustments with the controls and the box and I was up and running. I did have some issues with picture quality with the cheap cables that came with the device but I swapped those out with some higher quality ones I had at the house and now have a great picture for watching videos. The text quality was better with the new cables but was not the greatest so wouldn't recommend this if you are trying to us the TV as a second monitor but so far its great for watching streaming video.

Surprised - better than expected
I had my doubts about this unit, having read most of the reviews for this type of connection. But I was pleasantly surprised, maybe because I didn't have big expectations. What is most odd about this? Your Desktop graphics will be nearly illegible, yet video is surprisingly crisp as if you were watching cable TV. I cannot figure that, but that is the way it is. If you want this to use your computer desktop on a TV with only a composite input, it probably won't do any good. But if you want to watch Hulu or whatever on a TV with only a composite (RCA plug) input, it works great.

Component output to T.V. does not work
I've tried this box with an LCD T.V. and with a VCR connected to an old CRT type T.V. and in both cases it displays crazy lines and gibberish. I can't see any kind of picture, but I can tell it is doing something because the white noise changes. There are switches on the side of the box to toggle between NTSC and PAL, but the instructions don't say which way it should be set for NTSC. I've tried all combinations and while they change the white noise on the screen, they don't make the picture viewable. The VGA pass through works fine to a VGA monitor, but the component video out doesn't work at all. I've tried 1024X768@75Hz and 1280X1024@60Hz and 800X600, but while the different setting change the look of the white noise, it doesn't display any kind of recognizable picture.Maybe I got a bad one? Not sure.I've tried pressing the menu and zoom buttons in the hope that the menu would provide some more options, but whether the VGA cables are plugged into the box or not, the menu and zoom buttons don't display anything on the screen or even alter the look of the white noise.

Good enough
Strangely enough, when I connect the laptop to the TV (an older trinitron sony), because of the resolution, I cannot distinguish a single word on the desktop. But, when I play a movie, it actually looks pretty decent. For a temporary connection to a computer, I recommend it.

Neat!
This product is just as I expected. It is not the best if you want to read words off your TV, but it is better when streaming movies. I use it for watching TV on the internet and streaming Netflix. It does its job.

Worked as promised
Simple to use. Worked as promised. Cheap way to stream to the TV. Would be better if instructions, for set up, were clearer.

Another Little Box With Lots of Cables!
This converter arrive very quickly. I unpacked it and was very pleased with the quality of the converter itself and the fact that all necessary leads are included. I read the instructions - that took about two minutes, as the instuctions are minimal! I connected the converter to my laptop and my TV and after a LOT of trial and error managed to get an acceptable picture on my TV. I realise that different operating systems need different setups, but some examples of how to adjust things would be helpful. I've got a reasonable picture, but it could be better - do I try and adjust it more and risk messing things up or stick with 'acceptable'? I don't know, as I don't really know what to expect! I'll probably try to improve the display and see if I get anywhere. This converter works and does the job it's supposed to, but it's not for the faint-hearted!Update to this review: I've just visited the Leicke website to see if there was any more info available to assist me in ensuring I'd got the correct set-up. One problem - it's all in German!! I don't speak German and I can't see any link on the site to an English language page. So - no help there! I know they say to email them for help, but I'd prefer to do it with a manual or similar. Not impressed, how much more effort does it take for a firm to have an english language page on an existing web-site?

PC to Video Converter
This is an excellent product manufactured to a high standard and small in physical size. The product enables connection to a projector via VGA cable as a "Pass Through" and also to a TV Monitor with Composite or S-Video input. Converting VGA (HD15) to Composite Video and S-Video gives excellent definition. It is simple to use and comes complete with all necessary cables. Power is via a USB Cable to fit laptop or PC.As there is no Sound Channel through the unit, a Audio Cable is supplied with a Stereo Mini Jack at one end for your laptop or PC headphone socket and 2 Phono plugs(Red and White) at the other for connecting to the TV.I have iused this for playing a DVD on a Large Screen CRT TV and also for feeding a composite Monitor in parallel with a projector. Both are good.I recommend it without reserve.

Works like a charm!
Works perfectly to connect my laptop or PC to my tube TV and it comes with all the cables and adapters you need to do so. The audio cables go directly from your computer's headset plug-in to the TV's RCA port or the RCA to SCART adapter, the computer's VGA port goes to the Leicke's and from there the yellow composite cable to the TV's RCA port of the RCA to SCART adapter and then to a SCART port. The Leicke comes with its own menu you'll need to access to change the brightness, contrast and color saturation and you can also adjust the positioning of the screen if need be. Please be aware, though, you may need to activate your computer's VGA port before its image will be displayed on your TV.

amazing little gizmo
I bought this gadget so I could stream videos from the computer to the tv. We're on a budget at the mo and can only afford basic freeview, so I thought this way we can watch catch up (bbc and e4 and youtube) on the tv rather than the computer monitor. I'm not the most technically savvy person but this took less than 10 minutes to wire up and ta daa! Computer output right there on my tv screen! Didn't need to adjust any settings or anything, just worked great straight off. The box includes all the wires needed to hook up a CRT tv to a computer using a VGA connection (silly me thought I'd need another VGA cable, so bought another one elsewhere, but they aren't too expensive so I guess its handy to have) There was some spare leads so I think you can probably use a different connection to hook up to the tv too, but I don't know which are which. I suppose the screen quality may not be as good as you can get, but I'm not into all the HDI stuff, and I am using an old CRT tv so as you can tell I'm not fussed. I wouldn't use the computer output on the tv to do emails etc as the resolution isn't great for text, but I think you can fiddle with the settings on the computer to make the text easier to read on the tv. The instruction leaflet is in German but the gizmo has written on it which lead plugs in where, its pretty straightforward and as I remarked, I'm not a computer whizz but I quickly worked it out, so that shows it's not difficult. I imagine if you're reading this review you know a little about what you are doing and why so should have an idea of how it all works. All in all, a fabulous little gizmo that is easy to set up and use. Well worth the £14 spent on it.
