BEST AM1 Heat Sink and Fan!
Amazing!. I shoved it into an M350 Mini-ITX case (60mm tall case) and it fits just fine. Better cooling performance than the stock HSF by a mile. Temperatures never reach over 40C even under max load (CPU + GPU) despite a slight overclock ( 2.2GHz CPU + 630 MHz GPU). Even at maximum the fan cannot be heard, especially if you have a mechanical HDD, although to be honest the heat sink is large enough that you could could probably run the chip (Athlon 5350) without the fan in an open air case (never tried it so...the risk is yours, i take no responsibility). Either way, this is quite easily the best after market HSF ive seen for the AM1 platform.

AMD's AM1 processor are amazing for what they do
this is what should came with the AM1 processor.AMD's AM1 processor are amazing for what they do, a max 25 watt HTPC that handles pretty much every task. Except the noise. apparently AMD used the cheapest and worst fan they can find to ship with the AM1 CPUs. the noise were so bad that i had to unplug the fan and relies purely passive cooling, an action that NOT recommended. this product performs better than AMD's stock cooler, but most importantly, entirely silent. highly recommended.

Not bad for the money
Cooler is 'yuge vs stock 5350 heat-sink, which is nice. Fan runs quiet, even at max load... when it works. Several times I've powered up the machine for the fan to fail, barely nudging from stationary while POST simply states that the CPU fan has failed. Not going to argue about a $10 cooling solution that is specifically tailored to this socket but I would've expected the fan to last more than a few power ups. Not worth the trouble for a $2 part to RMA, so instead just ordered a high speed fan to replace. Would probably still buy again, albeit with another 3rd party fan.

Even worse, the motor whine is horrible at low RPMs
The fan on the alpine M1 does NOT TURN OFF - which means it will be constantly running even at low temperatures and eventually lead to dust accumulation. Even worse, the motor whine is horrible at low RPMs.I bought this to overclock the athlon 5350, and managed to push it to 2.35GHz. Even at that speed this heatsink is overkill. You do not need a 3rd party cooler for any socket AM1 CPU, even if you are going to overclock.Save yourself some cash.

Fits AM1 well, very quiet, easy to install.
There aren't a lot of options for AM1 CPU Coolers, and this one is great.I am using it on a media server, so I want it to be very quiet, and this thing does the job.I was surprised that it fit cleanly without having to move any RAM at all, and its nice and low profile. Great product so far.

Do not buy this product.
Install was simple, I like that everything comes with heat sink pre applied. However, had I not been paying close attention I would have ruined my cpu because the fan only ran about 1/4 of the time and would barely spin when it did actually turn on. You get what you pay for I guess.

Much better fan than the stock heatsink that comes with any ...
Much better fan than the stock heatsink that comes with any AM1 processor, and the included thermal pad/compound is good enough that I didn't even bother reapplying it with anything special like Arctic Cooling MX4 or the like. My idle temperatures are literally room temperature (about 27C) and I rarely ever see 45C under full load. As cheap as this fan is, I would buy it again in a heartbeat. I hate the two-pin mount design of AM1 architecture but Alpine includes bolts that go through the bottom of the motherboard so you can be certain your heatsink will never come off...just make sure you use a case that has a cut-out in the back behind the mobo if you ever want to swap processors!

Quality and Silent alternative to stock fan
Bought this for new AM1 MB and AMD Athlon CPU to fit inside Antec HTPC case.Works very well. It is obviously silent but rarely gets even warm. Fitting is relatively easy as thermal paste already applied. Note the size though. It is much larger than stock CPU Fans in terms of overhang and height so I suggest you check measurements before purchase (A very tight squeeze in my Antec ISK300 case). Good instructions including how to disable CPU fan in BIOS so that warnings do not appear. Very pleased with price and performance. Excellent value for money.

Not really needed ,unless you want a silent cooler.
Not really useful...the stock cooler is better comparing it's RPM...Otherwise it's good. The heat sink is really big and the fan is nearly silent , but sadly when idle it does not rotate.
