After much deliberation, this is the one!
My husband and I spent lots of time researching these weather stations to replace an older one. It was imperative that the new one be easier to read because of aging vision. We finally settled on this model and it is very satisfactory. Set-up was easy--but you have to READ THE DIRECTIONS! In a perfect world, I would like to see one with the temperatures on top of the display and the time below but any set-up that way had other problems. This has been in operation in our home for about 5 weeks and through a nasty "polar vortex" in Wisconsin. It's readings have been "spot on" with the old one that my husband won't get rid of--they are usually within .1 or .2 degrees of each other.

Good display!
I got this for my 96 y.o. mom who lives in an assisted living facility on Cape Cod. The sensor for her old one disappeared because it couldn't be securely mounted outside. I like this one better. The display is larger and she likes the forecast picture. The maintenance guy mounted the sensor securely to the window frame out of the sun. This forecaster keeps her connected to the outside when the weather is too cold to go out. She enjoys telling me what the weather is when I call, including the exact outdoor temperature. It serves the purpose well.

EDIT to previous review....works well, it was the transmitter that was faulty
I bought a second of this product for my house and it only worked properly for about 3 weeks. My previous review was only one star, since I had constant issues with the outside temperatures being wrong (WAY wrong). I tried resetting it, replacing the batteries, etc. with no luck. I'm currently trying to work directly with customer service at Lacrosse to either get a replacement receiver, a replacement sensor or both.UPDATE>>>>SUCCESS! It turned out to be the remote sensor that was malfunctioning. I've replaced it with a new sensor that La Crosse sent me and, so far, it's working properly (been working with the new sensor for 3 days now). That said, I give this only 4 stars since I had to deal with the faulty sensor and also because I believe the "forecast" function is sort of silly. I don't believe that it is accurate 70% of the time as La Crosse suggests. Perhaps 25% of the time (but we all could do that well by just watching the skies! LOL).

Setup of the LaCrosse Weather Unit
Initial setup - make sure to follow instructions (battery install) andplace transmitter five to six feet away from station before installing the station batteries.Initial battery process try not to be close to TV or Internet router.Once communication between the two then placement good to go anywhere.Unit very accurate - had to replace the transmitter after 7 years in Arizona.Note - the transmitter batteries will be the first to go due to its outside placement.

Does what I want it to do.
After ordering and returning an oversized unit that has a backlight that belongs at the end of an airport runway, I ordered what I used to have, and am happy with it. A good price and an easy purchase. The design of the other one has me wondering why all of the numbers are different sizes, the time, the most often read feature being the smallest, and the optics of the glass keeping it from being read at even a slight angle. None of that foolishness in this unit.

Temperature readings went on and off again......
With brand new alkaline batteries in both the sensor and the weather station, both indoor and outdoor temperatures appeared and then disappeared...on and off...until the outdoor temp went blank and the indoor temp reading was 8 degrees too high. I sent an email to LaCrosse and after 5 days they answered telling me to do everything I had already done to try to get it to work. By this time I had returned it.

The weather station came earlier than expected. I bought it to replace the same model I had purchase 5 years ago. Was not sure if the problem was the reciever or transmitter. So I bought the complete unit.Found that the transmitter on the old unit was the problem. I was able to use the old reciever with the new transmitter. So the old one is in the garage. Kind of a bonus.Rick from Minnesota

Sensor Doesn't Last
This is our second one. First outside sensor lasted about three years (36 months). They discontinued the full unit. Had to buy another kind made by same outfit still from China. This time, oh different unit, but they used the exact same outside sensor. This time it lasted about a year and a half (19 months). Placed both outside sensors where they were sheltered and not exposed to the elements. Inside unit works great but like everyone you get these for outside temps and hope it will last longer but they got ya and they know it. They charge almost as much for a sensor as the whole thing.
