PetSafe Sliding Glass Cat and Dog Door Insert - Great for Rentals and Apartments - Small, Medium, Large Pets - No Cutting DIY Installation

This doggie door was absolutely by far one on my best purchases. My son installed the door and said it was easy to install, was the perfect size for my small dog, durable, especially the magnet to the door flap. Even when it would rain and we would have high winds the flap held in place. Unfortunately, I have had to move and now we don't have a dog door and its awful! I can't wait until I get into a place with a fenced back yard so I can purchase another one and let my little pup roam freely outside again.

I’m happy with this product. It has allowed my dog to go in and out as she likes which makes her much calmer overall. It fits well in the door track and stays put even without using the screws provided for a permanent mount. As a renter, this is my preferred method. The opening size is perfect for my Pit/Boxer mix (65lbs).

The door took a couple hours to put in but I really took my time . There are so many different sliding patio doors so you need to proceed with the installation with that in mind. I needed to modify the installion slightly from the instructions to fit my particular door. They provided extra hardware to allow for different installations. As with any pet door you will be creating a significant security breach in to your home and you should be cognizant of that. There is also a major compromise in the weather tightness of your door.I have installed about ten pet doors over the years. This was my first installation in a sliding glass door and it was the easiest install I have encountered. The door flap is replaceable with the part number embedded right in the flap which is great. My 80 lb chocolate lab goes through the large size door easily. I’m happy with the door. I needed to remove the latch hardware from the door jamb of my existing door and it would help if the instructions mentioned you need to remove any existing hardware off of the jamb which the pet door will be installed against. It does not seal as strongly as I would like, wish the magnets were stronger as it blows open in a stiff breeze.

This is a great pet door, it works very well. The only issue is the magnetic strip isn't very strong so it opens quite easily by gusts of wind, which can let water in when its raining. So I wish that it could be a little stronger. But this tiny issue would allow for smaller pets to go though it easier. Another thing that is great about it is how quiet it actually is. We used to have another doggie door in the past and it used to be annoyingly loud. But this one is very silent and sometimes you can't even hear your pet walk though the door when your in the same room.

This is one of the worst ways to get a dog door put in. The first one they sent was completely assembled wrong from the manufacturer and had to get a replacement sent. Should've taken it as a sign and stopped there. This thing is flimsy and just all the way around horrible. I have lost the use of my sliding glass door to have this thing in because my latch doesn't work with their style cut out for one. It leaks air like crazy through the seals. The cheap nasty weatherstripping that came with it to seal your sliding glass door doesn't work at all, it just lets in a lot of air and dust in. Because now with this thing in your door is stuck at the halfway mark between closed and open, so you have good 1/4 gap open on the back side that needs to be sealed. It is just a horrible, dumb, cheap product that is not worth the money to get. Just for a couple hundred dollars more you can get a company to make a custom dog door to install in your existing sliding glass door and I'm counting down the days till they came out and get our done so I throw this pile into the trash.

My dogs learned how to use this quickly. I got the large and it is perfect for my 55lb. German Shepherd and 40lb. Blue heeler. The size is suitable for them and they use it to go outside on their own when I’m asleep. That alone made it worth the purchase. The product was relatively easy to put together and even easier to install since it has a retractable spring mechanism to pop it easily in the door frame. I highly recommend this product.

I love the door. However the quality control missed that the metal was not even on the top section bottom so when I went to put it together it did not line up tight to the bottom section. I was able to pull the screws out of the top section and get it to move without breaking the pain of glass so its close enough for me. Other than that the door is great my little guys and big guys use it with no issues. (dog sizes 7lb, 15lb, 32lb and 69lb shepherd mix). I was worried about the lift with my smallest dog since I have a 4inch space from my door to the deck, I ended up buying this door and it is perfect for them.
