Frank's has written an instructional book which contains the right information at the right level for me at this time in my jazz music learning journey. I seem to clearly understand and am motivated by his approach as if on the same wavelength.

Both Frank Gambale Technique Book I & II are essentially studies of five different improvisational approaches to tackle a particular chord type, namely: scale, pentatonics, arpeggios, triads, intervals. As such, Frank presents a wide range of harmonic possibilities on improvisation, based upon which the intelligent student can construct meaningful solos when these music elements are internalized.Note that in those two books there is a large amount of materials to digest, however a solid understanding of these materials is fundamental to jazz improvisation. The aspiring guitarist is urged to seek ways, from other sources, to build lines once these improvisational elements are digested. Recommended for a core course of improvisation.

This book is only for ppl who are really trying to master the guitar on a theoretic level too. I use it as a reference bible and read through it and make notes when I am on holiday. When you wanna mainly play: buy something else. 90% is what was hip in the 80’s: playing exotic scales and preferably at mind boggling speed. Buy this when you already have a firm grasp of music theory. Not when you are a beginning or advanced player
