First of all this works great but you need to understand a few things. The most important thing you should know out of the gate is that this unit DOES NOT stay on all the time. Because it's solar, it sends out pulses or bursts of high voltage ⚡. This works fine if you are working with larger animals... either keeping them in or keeping them out of an area. However this does NOT work as well with keeping out small animals that move quick, because you're rolling the dice on whether they will be touching the wire at the time of a pulse. The second thing to know is that the pulse frequency slows down at night. The company's position is that animals are less active at night so the pulses can be less frequent to conserve battery. Having said that, we are using ours to keep animals out of the garden and so far its done great. I wish there was a setting to allow the unit to keep the higher frequency at night in areas that have plenty of sun. Our primary need is at night to keep animals out of our garden and its worked... even with the pulsing. Our primary pest is deer, raccoons, and groundhogs. Those animals all move slow enough that they really can't make it past the wire without getting a proper shock. We did have an animal get in once, but once we adjusted our wire height that didn't happen again. Some helpful hints... 1. Face the unit with the solar panel towards south. Seems obvious but that's where you get the longest window of sun. 2. Run your wire at several heights (especially at the bottom) to keep out smaller pests. This helps keep animals from jumping over the wire or squeezing between without getting a shock. The more you can slow down the animal... the higher the probability that you can time it with a shock. Great unit!

Mine does not work. So, as of now, I dislike the product. Turns out I needed to make a few adjustments to the live wire as it was touching the metal fencing and the surge of electricity was getting dispersed so it seemed as though it was not working when it really was. Working well very satisfied

It works GREAT! In Oregon I was concerned with the amount of direct sun it would get, but, at initial start-up the power has been flowing and consistent regardless of the rain and clouds. And it did what I needed it to do,,,train a Husky Pup not to push thru the fencing! It hurts, sad but true. She will never touch that again! Thanks!

It is a quality product and feels like such. But I hath not been able to admit shocks without touching both lines. Maybe you cannot connect the line directly to Gallagher. The pictures in manual show a thicker wire from line & grounding rod.

I was really nervous purchasing this product reading the reviews. It seemed this product was hit or miss. Well it was a hit for me. I live in the NC mountains along a river where we worry about bears and other critters getting into our new bee hives. First let me say please do your research on how to install these fences properly. Things such as wires not properly run and insulated on posts or not grounded will instantly make this product worthless (user error) I bought the heavy cord which connects from this device to the fence and the other to a ground wire from tractor supply( does not come with this product there are no wire leads to fence and ground). T posts with yellow insulators to run the fencing wire. 3 6 foot iron rods for grounding posts. Tied all together with steady sunlight from 9am to 8pm. This product puts enough pop to make u draw your hand back and startle you. I would not say it will really cause bodily harm but it will make whatever is checking it out not come back. This is also a unit that sends pulses it is not a constant shock. I do. It keep this unit covered it is constantly exposed to the elements and it has stood up to multiple storms and is running strong. If you receive this product from the supplier I used on here then this should do the job of you’re trying to build a medium sized pen or keep your animals (horse,cow,pig,goats) in the field. It will work!!

it worked once we cut all the stray grass and weeds that were making contact. However we have 1 very large Great Pyrenese and a 5 month old puppy and they were both able to fight through he sting and it did not stop either one of them. they yelped so i think the felt it but they were able to just power through anyway. We had to buy a stronger electric fence. We are trying to contain them in a 6 acre tract.

Product worked great I have almost two acres of land that I used product on to keep my blue healers from digging out. It only took a couple of times getting to close and now they have learned, and I can leave for the day without having them pinned up in the dog run all day. Definitely recommend to anyone what to keep animals in or out of any area that has sunlight available.

Simple set up and it delivers a good shock and charges on minimum sunlight.

The solar fencer is exactly what we needed

Description on product states will energiser 15 acres or 3 miles. Packaging states (see photo) only 1.3 acres. I will try it but need it to do more that just over an acre. Description is misleading if it only energises just over an acre
