Sunday AfternoonsAdventure Hat

About 20 years ago I had purchased a Sunday Afternoons hat at a street fair. You can imagine after this time it was getting a bit tired and since it was white, got a bit dingy. After hand washing it was really wrinkled so I decided to get a new one. I chose this neutral color and it is comfortable and definitely works to keep the sun off my head, neck and face. The chin strap works great on a breezy day so I don't worry about it blowing off. Great value! My husband decided to buy one as well and he loves his.

The best part about this lightweight hat is that it folds away small and tightly. It travels easy and virtually takes up no space in my busy closet. It functions well by protecting my neck and face from the sun, and its ventilation keeps my head cool, even when trekking through Utah in the summertime. Wearing the hat won't win you any fashion contests, but there are worse looking hats in this category. It does the job it is supposed to and stores away beautifully.

This hat provides the sun coverage that I need and is perfect for travel. It is lightweight and will pack flat in my suitcase. I also wear it for water aerobics and it dries quickly.

I have to be very careful in the sun due to a medical condition. I also unfortunately have a very small head. So finding a hat to provide protection from the sun that actually fits my head is extremely difficult. I have ,literally ,a pile of expensive sun hats which I've tried to wear, only to find them simply too large. The adjustment on this hat really works well, and I can actually get it small enough to fit my head. It looks nice , and provides really good protection. The drape is the longest I've seen. It can be pulled up and attached with velcro if you need it shorter, as when you're in the water. So if you need good protection from the sun ,this is a really good hat. The price is decent, too,as I have paid a lot more for other hats that just ended up in the reject pile.

I love this hat. I can't believe I spent so much money on a Tilley. Twice. I feel rather foolish, to tell you the truth.This hat covers more of my face than Tilley. And my neck!!This hat is MUCH lighter and more breathable than Tilley.This hat has a nicely shaped brim; both attractive and effective at shading my eyes and face from the sun.This hat has color!!This hat cost less than ⅓ of what my Tilley did.The only con: As I've often bought my correct size in hats, but then suffered headaches (presumably from my head swelling in the heat and then the hat being too small?), I sized up. I definitely measure within the medium range, but purchased a large because I'm so sick and tired of the headaches. I shouldn't have--the hat is too roomy. I don't think I'l ever reap any sweat-absorbing benefits because it's not exactly sitting on my skin, even with the cord adjustment in the back (which, by the way, I think is awesome). In a modest wind or breeze, this thing threatens to take a trip. In a gusty wind, it blows right off. Even with it snugged down tight, it can blow off. The neck cord ensures that I get choked; but I don't have to chase my hat. I don't know if a medium would solve my problem or not--this thing is seriously not good at staying in place.Looks: um, people, we don't buy hats like this for looks. We buy hats like this to wear less or sunscreen, or because we're on photo-sensitive medication, or have/had skin cancer, etc. I think this hat looks dorky. Just like every other hat I've had. It may be a different kind of dorky, but it's dorky. But I couldn't care less. I'm in love with how lightweight it is, and how well it covers me.

Great sun protection with a chin strap. The brim can be damaged, though. I had to return 2 hats that I received damaged. It is is pretty resistant to rough use, though, within reason. Great for rain, too. This is my second one of these. I used my first one for years.

Last spring I purchased (from REI) my first Sunday Afternoons Adventure Hat, Large, White/Charcoal. I've been wearing it non-stop, specifically when power-walking and gardening. I love it for all the reasons many other reviewers have listed: light-weight, very comfortable, wide brim that shields my entire face, rear flap to shield my neck/hair, comfortable chin strap which is easy to adjust, air vents, UPF 50+, seems well-made (in Vietnam), etc.I've enjoyed this hat so much that I decided to treat myself to a second one in my favorite color, teal. (Please note: I order many things online, and my computer monitor has, to date, been very color-accurate.) I ordered "Lapis." The hat arrived promptly, but with no packing slip. (?) I'm very disappointed because the hat I received is NOT the color I saw when I selected "Lapis." It is a blah-blue; there's no green in it. The sticker on the plastic bag it was in says: "Sunday Afternoon Adventure Hat, Large, New." Hmm, does "New" refer to a new color perhaps, not the "Lapis" I ordered? Also, the brim was folded in half and creased, and I'm wondering if the crease will eventually work out or if it's permanent. All-in-all, not a satisfying purchase. Again, this is a very good hat design, so will I go through the hassle of returning this one is the question?!

My mom is Dutch, and has a larger than average head circumference. That made finding good sun hats tricky, especially online. This one has an adjustable band to fit more head sizes, and we were delighted to find out it fit hers too! The front section has a wire, to hold the brim up for visibility, and the back has a flap that comes down to protect your neck, even when you turn. It’s great. Worth every penny!We got her the pinky-purple one so she’s easier to find on hikes. Bonus is it helps her not look like a deer to hunters, and my dad can follow her better.

Mi mamá tiene que protegerse todo el tiempo contra el sol y amó este sombrero por su frescura y extensión de su área de sombra, que le proteja el cuello también. Siempre sudaba con sombreros y gorras, pero ya no. Es fácil de guardar en la bolsa de mano.

Absolutely the perfect sun protective hat! I spent a lot of time looking at all kinds of hats offered on Amazon and finally settled on this one. The cream/sand colour is exactly as shown on the website. This hat is really well made, lightweight, cool, fits well, is super comfortable to wear and looks great. This hat doesn't flop around nor obscure your vision. It is ideal for travelling - It will pack almost completely flat with no folding required. I couldn't be happier with my purchase! Highly recommended.

This hat is a super and lovely colour, but buyer beware. I ordered 2 different Sunday afternoons hats through Amazon LCC global and both were needlessly folded through the brim, which has ruined the hat for wearing. This could easily have been avoided, the packaging was large enough not to require this and by rotating the folding though 90 degrees the brim could have been left flat. I am fuming. Far too much palaver to return to the USA, fingers burned never again.
