John S. Sargent: 194 Master Drawings

Now studying at an atelier, I have developed a fascination for Sargent's work. I wanted to deep dive more into his drawings, and this book is a perfect resource. Love the sketches and some of the descriptions that come with it. The item arrived earlier than expected and with no damage.

This is a wonderful. 194 of John Singer Sargent’s drawings in pencil, colored chalk, etc. Well done and well worth the price.

Sargent drawings are a go-to for an artist in training. The quality isn’t great or glossy here, but the pages hold good reproductions of his drawings. I tear them out and copy them. You may be more precious with your book. Either way, it works for what you need it to do.

Not as many portraits inside as I had hoped for, but still worth buying.

These are full page copies of some of JSS's beautiful charcoal, graphite and pencil portraits and many studies. I could wish for a blurb about each subject, but the portraits can't be faulted. I would love to be able to see what he saw when he looked at his models and then be able to put it on paper.

The media could not be loaded. The quality of the book isn't the best. It looks like it's a print on demand book, given how badly the pictured is centered on the cover...or it could be that the book wasn't designed by a professional designer. There are also two pages / pictures in the book that are misprinted. I point to them in the video.Lastly, the images are a bit faded.For the good parts: you do get a lot of drawings for the money. I have "Dover Art Library: Sargent Portrait Drawing" as well, and there are about 5 portraits (give or take) which are duplicates between this book and the Dover book. So while the quality of the printing is disappointing, given the book is so cheap and there's a lot of drawings, I'm pretty happy with the book.

Very good book, the drawings look great on my tablet. The short intro/biography well done. Overall a bargain! Don't hesitate to buy this book.
