Installing a ceiling fan outside where it may get rained on? Don't fabricate to keep your fan motor dry, use this. It is the ideal solution to keep your outdoor fan.

WIth the recent updates in the electrical codes since 2005. Ceiling fans require a box that is ceiling fan rated. That is outside and exposed to the rain, the ceiling fan shall be wet location rated. The box must also be rated. So many use the standard bell weatherproof round box, (that's not legal or rated for ceiling fan use) or (drill through the beam, use a pancake box, which the canopy is bigger than the beam. Another illegal install.) This box is outdoor, weatherproof, and ceiling fan rated. Even has a trim to allow the ceiling fan canopy to fit under. I have been buying these for my customers for years now. A great product that will pass NEC code and City inspection.

I wanted something sturdy and didn't really like the idea of plastic. It matches the finish of the new fan so it has a nice complete look to it. The box went up easy and it may have taken me a minute to figure out how to get it all together, it ended up looking really nice. So while this may cost more that a basic box, the money spent was worth it in the end.

This is a very solid outdoor electrical box. It's extremely durable and well made and also includes an optional rain cover and also the adaptors / grommets you may need for different size cables and conduits. The markings on the box to help alignment are a nice touch and the hardware options (different screws depending on the application) included are very well made too. Very satisfied with these.

Very well made to hang a heavy ceiling fan for outside or damp locations. I had a hard time finding something like this, could have some side mount options to make it better for different applications.
