If you're a beginner in sketching, this book will be of a great assistance as far as sketching portraits is concerned. Although short, the book gives step by step comprehensive instructions accompanied by illustrations.

Beautifully explained, with easy to understand, fully broken down explanations. I highly recommend for those aspiring to be Portrait artists.

Not really as good as you would think. I have created better by myself

This book covers drawing a face and gives good clear instructions for the face given as an example. It includes all the proportions and gives suggestions for achieving realism and depth. The book is however only 38 pages long and does not cover drawing anything beyond the example face.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved the layout of this book! It was a very beautiful, simplistic, and logically laid out book. We more like this one.

A very helpful short guide to learn the skill of sketching a portrait. I must say that I've been practicing some of these steps and they actually are helping. It's a quick book to start practicing.

若い女性の肖像だが、正面顔の前に目・鼻・唇の下の位置が等間隔で示されている。写真からの引用だが、顔の傾きから鉛筆で縦横の比率を計測し画面に写し、顔の各パーツを描き込んでいる。徐々に眼・眉毛、鼻、唇とトーンを描き込み、額から眉毛・鼻・唇顎、頬・首筋へと線を確認している。肌のトーン、髪のトーンと鋭い鉛筆で一本一本と細かく描写している。いい加減なドローイングより、正確な写真もいいが、ジックリとドローイングを習得した上での使用法が重要だ。

This is excellent for beginners and advanced artists because it explains in simple steps with photos to show the particular relationships between each element of a face, specific pencils to use to represent them for a good final product.
