Nice kalimba package
Beautiful instrument. A nice sound. Great packaging. The protective case is great, as you can bring this kalimba with you and keep it safe from being damaged.

Kalimba -It’s a winner!
Long Ting kalimba is a very good quality instrument. I had to try a few different brands before I chose for a gift Ling Ting 17 keys kalimba. Long Ting made a nice presentation of kalimba; good hard case, soft velvet bag and a lot of other gadgets. Each metal key had engraved letter and number. It would be very helpful for a beginner. Very impressive and useful gift for adults and kids.

Beautiful
Such a beautiful instrument...except the tines had a dull gray film. I used the included cloth, but that didn’t work. I read somewhere to use metal polish, but didn’t want to do that. Read somewhere else to use a pen eraser. After nearly an hour erasing the tines and using the cloth, it looks brand new (😶) Hopefully, I won’t hear an eraser is bad for the tines somewhere else.On a high note, perfectly in tune out of the box. A pretty, mellow, full tone. I’ll definitely buy the 34 note by LingTing when funds permit.

Disappointed
I have many Kalimbas and have given some away as I've gained knowledge and experience. Because I've already spent a significant budget on Kalimbas only to give them away, I didn't want to keep trying to find a good quality one where all the tines sound clear and resonate well. I know Ling Ting has a good reputation so I thought I'd spend the money to get a good brand for a hollow box one. I'm disappointed that the 5' key is loud but flat sounding. No resonance. The other notes, even the two highest are fine. The two high notes don't resonate as well as on a flatboard but well enough. It's that discordant sound of the 5' that I simply cannot find a fix for. So instead of enjoying this Ling Ting hollow box Kalimba as I was expecting, it is put away until I find a Kalimba that has good quality and all tines work.

QUALITY INSTRUMENT
Only Con- was Shipping this Kalimba, it shipped from Texas to Oregon, in the manufactures Box, No outer box? No tape to seal the Box the box could be opened very easily. I did receive the package in good shape though, and All contents in in the box was in good shape. Review of LT K17G, this is a Great Kalimba from LingTing, Very Good Tone and Great Playability, Love the G tone it is tuned to. This is a Loud acoustical Box Kalimba, and since it is in the tone of G the Highest tines/notes Sound Very Good, they ring out nicely and have good Sustain time. The Highest Notes sound and play excellent, All notes play very well. This is a Quality Built and Sounding Kalimba at an Excellent Price to quality ratio. Color of wood stain is very good.

These are wonderful kalimbas
The Ling Ting kalimbas are just wonderful. The craftmanship, quality, sound, tone, accessories that come with them, are beyond compare. The wood is always well finished. They are easy to hold. The tines are soft and well aligned. They don't hurt your thumbs. There are NO dead tines. It arrived perfectly tuned. Just love it!

Getting mine replaced (updated)
I might change my review when the replacement comes. I was shocked because mine had several dead tines and I bought this because of the reviews saying it has no dead tines. I asked for a replacement because I was very disappointment and surprised. If the replacement is much better than I'll probably move this to five stars hopefully but honestly the kalimba I received was one star. It has a great price and looked great, it was smooth and beautiful and exciting, it sounded great except it had several dead tines and I was pretty badly disappointed.(Update 9/13/24)I got my replacement today and there's a dead tine. It's better than the first kalimba which had four dead tines!! But this one has only one. However that is still very disappointing. Because it's beautiful and feels wonderful, it's a great kalimba but I'm starting to wonder if you can get one with no dead tines. I'll try one more time to have it replaced and hopefully I get a working one. I'm pretty sure this would be a five star kalimba given the value, IF it functioned properly. I still have hope to get one that actually works. I'll try one more time. But after that I'm going to give up on this kalimba.(Update later on 9/13/24)Well okay......I tried to get this replaced but they won't replace it again. I can either accept this kalimba with a dead tine or else return it and get my money back. Wow. That really sucks. I'm very disappointed. I really wanted this kalimba. I'm surprised. I've heard a lot of good things about ling ting, but none of them were my experience.... I hate to be negative and I wanted to love this and be excited about my ling ting. Golly. I'm extremely disappointed in the kalimbas and the service. It sucks they won't even send a replacement. I just wanted one that functions correctly.I think you can get a good kalimba from ling ting. But I couldn't. They won't even replace it a second time. But..... I think that's really shabby of them because it's not my fault I needed a second replacement. Anyway ..... This just took me off guard because I was really looking forward to my new kalimba. ...... But anyway. If you get a good one I'm sure it would be 4 or 5 stars. But if you get one that doesn't work and sounds like crap, they don't work with you. Overall I'm extremely disappointed. I guess I *have* to try a different brand, but I'm pretty unhappy about that.

High quality
The kalimba has a lovely big sound and looks and feels nice in the hand. This is my second lingting kalimba (I also have the solid body, key of C), and I am really impressed by the quality for the price ($42). I don't care about the tassel (it gets in the way) or the tremolo chain (just sounds weird), but the instrument itself and the case are awesome. It is just a few extra dollars to get the version with the pickup, so it seems short-sighted not to. I didn't notice this in the listing, but it even came with the audio cable.I would post a video, but I'd embarrass myself with my playing! ;)
