Helps me understand what life was like in the early 1900's. Good stories well told.

Excellent look into life in Tuscaloosa
Aileen Henderson describes her growing up in the world of Tuscaloosa in the 1930s and 1940s with humor and realistic details. I was sad when I reached the end of the book. I wanted to hear more of her stories.

Wonderful storytelling!
Aileen Kilgore Henderson is truly a delightful writer, and her life has been filled with adventures of all kinds! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about her experiences growing up in the Depression, her first job as a dime store salesgirl, and her eventual joining of the WAC as an airplane mechanic during World War II. The fact that she is from my community (Tuscaloosa County, Alabama) makes the stories all the more interesting and meaningful to me because of the familiarity of the places and even some of the people. An accomplishment at any age, Ms. Henderson published this book when she was 99!
