Excellent review of Spanish for those who know some
I had 4 years of high school level Spanish almost 50 years ago, and have never quite forgotten it all since. On the other hand, I also have not remembered enough of it to get by well in a Spanish-speaking country, and need to fix that before a forthcoming trip to an orphanage our church supports in Baja Mexico. To get ready, I've been reading various introductory books about and/or written in Spanish, and this is among the most useful ones I've found, especially at its current price (free.)True newbies might be frustrated by the many words used to illustrate the officially-covered words, but I already knew most of them, so really appreciated seeing each term in the context of the words with which it is normally used.I already know how to pronounce most words in Spanish, so didn't bother to visit the suggested Web site to hear pronunciation. The topics covered are not comprehensive, but do include the words we expect to need most in reading and speaking with children. For anyone wanting another surprisingly effective resource, I also just purchased My First Spanish Word Board Book/Mi Primer Libro de Palabras en Espanol (My First series) , the favorite book of my bilingual 16 month old grandson, whose mother and nanny speak to him only in Spanish, while the rest of the fmmily speaks to him in English. Like this book, it has a cute picture associated with each word, and shows both Spanish and English for each.I've been amazed at the improvement in my Spanish in recent weeks as I've read such books, and practiced on my grandson, with corrections as needed from his nanny. The only flaw I've noted in this book is that some examples are repeated on the same page, but didn't mind the extra practice.Definitely recommended as a review, especially for those who will speak to children.

not bad for a free book; problems with companion website
the cool thing about this serices of books is that the various languages all use the same words ... getting the companion audio from the publishers website was so frustrating that for now giving up was my preferred option.each book in the series has pictures (cat, cow) and related sentences ... a friend with a Kindle told me that some (not all) of the audio is available also from Kindle.Downside of the audio, it only says the words (cat, cow) and not the related sentences which would be much more useful. Some of the books in the 101 series currently cost a buck, others three bucks ... for zero to three cents a word, you can learn to say gato (cat) and vaca (cow) in many different languages. One major problem is that they do not show the gender (male, female, neuter) with the word (some languages have only male and female gender); if you know some grammar, you may be able to guess the gender from the example sentences, however, it would be better if they gave the gender and definite article with each word.Correction: the gender is there, but is below the word; the article would be useful: el gato instead of just gato; in school we were taught to always memorize the definite article with the noun because it's much easier to remember the gender.a pronunciation guide of some sort would be useful.because 2.5 stars are not a possible rating, my choice was three stars because this book is almost okay.

Loved the Hunt!
I received an ARC. The book was a good read. I really liked the hunt scene; how the women were selected; that was fun to read. I was hoping the women would have set traps for the dragon men, which would have been fun to read. I thought it was hilarious when Coal when to get his woman back that was funny. The men really need to come up to the 21st century. Maybe the human women can get they up to speed on some of the new way of living. They were hilarious though. Why didn’t the women dragons get in trouble for what they did; well what one of them did. Overall the book was good. I’m very excited to read the next installment. I would like to learn more about the dragon world. How they interact, what they do as a pastime. How does the four kingdoms interact. Hoping to see a story on Blaze.

For Free Take A Look....
This was a Free download on Amazon for the Kindle. I am trying to work on learning Spanish and looking for helps anywhere I can. This is only one of two aps that I see are for a Kindle so I thought I would try it. It is approximately 150 pages of pictures with a page of explanation in Spanish and use in sentences. It evidently goes along with another program that I won't be getting, but this book is something I can look at and after I have learned the words most likely somewhere else it will let me see them used in more sentences. It is worth a look and you can't beat being for free.

Perfectly simple but not a one-stop Spanish book
This book serves as a good book to compliment your studies and shouldn't be used as your only resource for learning Spanish. The book's strength is in its simplicity. Each vocab word shows an image and also includes sentences showing proper word usage. It's nice to see something different than the typical boring grammar book.WARNING: They advertise 2 separate books that are basically the same. The other one is titled: Learn Mexican Spanish - Word Power 101 . The only difference are in the word usage examples and the differences are minor, maybe one adjective will be different. You don't need to get both. If you want to learn Spanish from Spain then get the Spanish one, otherwise get the Mexican Spanish edition.

Very informative basic spanish beginner learning tool
I selected this Spanish vocabulary book mainly as it was an instant download onto my Kindle, it was also free so there's a great value for money bonus. It has all the basic topics covered including animals, colours, food and the always helpful numbers. The book is a great tool to help you formulate the word within sentences, as with each word there are a few examples of the different ways the word can be used within the language, thereby teaching you more than only the covered topics.I would also recommend this book for a quick Spanish reference when out and about with you Kindle or like me on your Kindle for iPhone as I take this everywhere with me while I am on holiday

Limited use
I downloaded this book when we were going to Spain a few years ago in the hope that it might help me learn a little Spanish. In fact it wasn't a great deal of help at the time. It seemed to be an odd collection of words. It starts with animals then body parts and goes on to basic colours followed by food and finally numbers. I know that it is basically a vocabulary book but it gives little help with pronunciation or simple grammar. In the last six weeks I have been making more of an effort to learn the language better and have had another look at this on my Kindle Fire. I can now read some of the sentences in the book better, so it has helped me to practice my skills a little. Would I recommend this book? The answer is probably no because ther are now better free learning tools available from the App Store.

Worth reading!
Straight to it - If you are wanting to tonnes of vocab in one book, this isn't the right source, because this book only has basics (animals, body parts, colours, numbers etc) and some sample sentences. If you're wanting to learn Spanish quickly, this is the wrong resource again as it doesn't *break down* the important basics, it just has sample sentences. But innovative language have many other products which are like this and clearly reflects it's SpanishPod101 which links to this book through the title, and the book reminds me of their word of the day on their official website.Sum up: Very worth downloading if you're learning off your own back, but isn't an effective way of learning.

Deceptively useful
It looks like a simple collection of illustrated sentences about animals, food or body parts but this is actually based on the (sound) learning theory that we learn a word by meeting it in several differnt contexts. So while you are reading Primer-grade sentences you are also learning more useful vocabulary phrases and structures (eg me encantan) without even noticing it until you read the sentences a second time and realise that they have really sunk in. It would have been useful to have finished the book with the same sentances in Italian only, with the encouragement to see how many of the sentences readers can still understand.

Not very useful.
Ok it's free. But it's not very good or useful. The words are very basic. Nothing wrong with that....we all have to start somewhere and a good, basic book is an excellent starter. But these basic words are combined with much more advanced, complicated sentences to explain their meaning. Not so good. Especially if some of the sentences are just silly. Also it's South American Spanish so many of the words used are different from Castillian Spanish used in Spain. It depends where you want to use your Spanish I suppose.
