MatatalabArtist Add-on Coding Set Coding Robot, Screen-Free STEM Educational Toy to Learn Code for Kids Ages 4-9

This product (albeit expensive) is great for what it is advertised - acquainting your child with computing and coding. This is not a "toy" and a child cannot be expected to handle or play with it on his own. However, under my guidance my 5 year old daughter (turned 5 last month - this was a birthday present) loves it and is very engaged with it when we decide to "play". Its great for quality time with your child, it opens their mind to simplifying instructions to basic levels in order to communicate with a computer (robot) and gives them additional skills like orientation when considering someone else's point of view, facing challenges & dealing with initial frustration of failure to overcome, patience, planning ahead and more. I would recommend anyone who considers buying this product to consider that the childs engagement with it will require close guidance. It would be a shame to spend such a large sum of money just to let it accumulate dust somewhere because no one takes the time to guide the child through the process of learning.

First of all, this set is very well-made: high-quality plastics, great UX (board, tower and robot are very easy to operate). Connection between the tower and the bot is very reliable, never experienced any issues with it. Program execution is also very reliable, we didn't get any misfires.Now 2 reasons for 3-star rating:1. First, an obvious one. After 2 years the tower stopped working. It doesn't turn on and when plugged to a charging cord, it just blinks the green light. This error code is not mentioned in the manual. I contacted the support but received no answer from them. I'm actually not sure if there is _any_ kind of support for this product.2. The replayability of this toy is very limited. It comes with 3 booklets of "puzzles" with increasing difficulty. But they all boil down to making the bot do a certain trajectory on the provided board. After that is done, there is very little else you can do with it. You can't do more complex programs: even if you had additional tiles, the program board space won't allow you.To be fair, there are ways to extend this: there are "artist" and "musician" add-ons and for more complex programs one should probably use the app. We have never tried these after our set stopped working though.

We purchased the Pro set and it came with plenty of pieces. You can use the included challenge packets (there's 3 included in this set) or create your own objective. My 6yo is creative so he likes making his own obstacle course that the coding robot has to navigate through to the finish. We've barely scratched the surface and have already had hours of coding fun with it. I don't know why other reviewers say there's not enough to it. I think it's meant to be a guide to creative play and we have loved every minute! We purchased the Talebot Pro for their easter baskets because we enjoyed this one so much!

The media could not be loaded.  It had been a real struggle homeschooling kids as we, as parents, never had to spend so much time with them like right now. As we all know, kids they get bored so easily and always want to jump on new things, play new toys, read a new story, etc... so for us having to come up with list of activities and lessons for them had been much harder than our actual day jobs. A friend of mine suggested us this coding set and it's such an amazing intellectual toys for young kids. As an adult, I think it's an awesome toy but offer much more than just fun, it helps kids learn about directions/motion, learn what is a loop and how does it start and when does it ends, help them navigate through obstacles, decision making and choosing appropriate controls to use, etc... It's one of those toys that everytime they play, they could feel like it's a brand new game and challenges, not repetitive, thus very intriguing to them and help with their creativity. The actual robot itself is also super cute, has funny sounds and voices, and also cool songs and melodies. There are many different add-on that i can buy too but they're kinda a little pricey but i guess it's a good investment for your kid's future if you want to guide them toward an engineering and science career.

This is a great toys, it teaches him how to think and plan out his goals. He can be creative as much as he want or he likes to be totally random as possible. He has gained confidence as he wrote code and instructions to move the robot on the screen across various courses. He loves completing the missions and meeting the objectives. This is a great toy and provides a nice introduction to programming for kids. This will definitely work on his cognitive thinking at an early age. I think it's a great toy for all young toddlers.All the parts are in excellent quality, comes with a storage case, instruction book.The instruction was easy to follow but definitely an adult helping would be recommended.This coding toy he will learn basic coding concepts thru hands on play. He would need to used the command forward, backward, left, right turn. It was a challenge for him at first and he was frustrated but he never gave up and now he loves it This is an advanced computational thinking, recognize pattern and generalize patterns using loops and functions to solve complex problem.Overall, this is a great education learning toys. I definitely recommend this, it's worth it more then any other toys I ever got him.

Very educational and fun. My 4 yr old kid loves controlling the car by instruction.

No clear instruction on how to get started. There are 4-5 booklets that came with package but it's not clear which one is for what.Only came with 1 charging cable, how do I charge both the Robot and Command Center at the same time?This product is expensive and overrated.

Box and items came moldy! Health hazard for kids!

Super toll.... mein Sohn, 6 Jahre, hat richtig Spaß daran. Er ist begeistert, wenn er sein Ziel erreicht.... das Verständnis gür Schleifen und Funktion kann super vermittelt werden. Logisches Denken ist auch erforderlich....Etwas teuer, aber wirklich gut

This is a great coding set that contains a lot of blocks to go with the robot. There’s lots to do it’s great fun and most of the results look cute. A great way to get into coding, with practical results. Four stars.
