Wonderful..great for Indian dishes.
So far we have cooked 3 full meals in this oven using the provided cookware. They all cooked well and turned out fine. I grew up with a box style solar cooker with 4 pots. My mom used to cook Indian meals in it (one pot had rice, one had lentils, two had veggies) and we used it for over 8 years every summer. I remembered it cut down majorly on how frequently she had to reorder the gas cylinder..and the food was super tasty and healthy. So..I went searching for a solar oven seeing the amount of bright sunny days in NH. I wanted a portable effective one. It arrived yesterday. Setup was as easy as unfolding it. The two silicone pots are very nice thick silicone. They retained heat well after I took them out of the oven which was nice since they kept cooking. The rack is thin but fits perfectly. I haven't used the baking tray yet but its also good quality. The thermometer is great..it hooks up nicely so I can see the temps from a distance. The day was sunny with temp of 90F and some clouds. The oven reached about 220F in an hour. Then I put in rice in one pot & potatoes in the other. Both cooked to perfection when I came back 3 hrs later. I needed to adjust the direction only 2-3 times. (its on our upper deck). Then I put in diced tomatoes with garlic & lentils. Again cooked to perfection by the late afternoon. The pots are nice and big enough for 2 adults & two kids. In this heat..it was great to not have to stand in the kitchen and make the A/C work overtime to cool the kitchen down. The food is cooked without any effort and then I can bring it in and just touch it up with spices/oil. Indian cooking sometimes needs so much oil that this really help cuts down on the quantity without compromising on the taste. As a product overall we are very very happy with it. We would definitely take it camping when we go. We did buy this to supplement our daily cooking though so it is sure to get lots of use.

Very compact and it works!
~ compact, light, portable, easy to use~ simple to orient - just shift so that the shadow is directly behind itPerfect for a week at Burning Man, I baked a whole squash in it one day, a beef stew another day. Water heated up very quickly. It did not heat up beyond 220F however, unlike the glass box type sun cookers. Will try it up here in Toronto. Will likely function as a slow cooker.

The start of a new venture
I purchased this oven for emergency preparedness, but I can see myself using this to do some fun cooking. My first try at solar cooking was putting some water in the Granite Ware coffee boiler (which I purchased separately), and voila, I had nice hot water to wash my dishes. The next day, I tried making rice, and got perfectly cooked rice! I put the oven out at 8:30 a.m., and by 10:30 a.m., it was at 212 degrees and my rice was finished. Keep in mind that this is already September, and I'm in New York, so the sun is lower in the sky. The oven works well, and is easy to transport. I especially like that it folds up so nicely and takes up hardly any room when not in use. I do have some difficulty getting the zipper started, though. To avoid having to get the zipper started each time I set up the oven, I tried to leave it zipped at the very beginning, but then the oven can't be folded -- it seems that it needs to be completely unzipped to fold properly. With more practice, I should be able to get the knack of it. I highly recommend the oven -- it's fun and it works!

It was wonderful to take camping and I ate out of it ...
I've taken this with me camping and have used it at home too. It was wonderful to take camping and I ate out of it for a week. The fact that everything in this kit can fold down flat makes it really easy to transport and store. While camping I could just get cooking without fussing about with starting a fire or bringing fuel. I wouldn't rely solely for a camping/survival situation though. It didn't perform particularly well in cloudy weather and even in the sun it only got to around 200 degrees. I don't think it could stay consistently hot enough to safely cook raw meat but I've cooked pasta and heated soup up in it just fine. Overall I'm happy with this product and I would buy another if mine got damaged or stolen.
