Even works with the dog door! Great product, saved about $1500 over retractable screens.
We were looking for an way to enjoy some evening air circulation and cricket/water sounds through a variety of doors without committing to Year-round screen that would require an extra hand when going in and out or obstruct the view when we don't want it there. This works perfectly for us.First I tried this 30" Bug Off screen on a narrow (29") single french door, and I liked it enough to order two more as soon we got the first one up. Though I wasn't sure we needed them, we went ahead with the stick-on velcro (provided along with instructions) on the sides of the door frame to make the opening more secure from bugs, etc..SIZING: Because this product uses a tension rod and magnets that find each other easily, you've got a little flexibility on the sizing, which I was glad to learn. If you have questions about fit, I recommend looking through the manufacturer's website (more detailed spec's) to be sure it will work for your door or if you need a size not offered at Amazon. As it turned out, I found the info I needed, and I almost ordered directly, but with the difference including shipping charges, etc. Amazon had the better price as well as the right sizes for our three doors.ON A HINGED DOOR IN ADDITION TO A DOG DOOR: For the second Bug Off screen we put up, it's a heavily-used side door with a dog door cut into it and steep stairs on the exterior. I wasn't sure this would work with the screen when the door itself was closed, but our mature dog figured it out after a bit of coaxing through the first few times and now blazes through dog door flap and screen flap without a pause. I did use the vecro stickers this one as well since I wanted it to stay in place rather than risk the bottom of the screen getting tangled in the dog door.EASY TO REMOVE AND PUT BACK UP. You just remove the tension rod and screen in a few seconds, detaching them from the vecro on the door frame sides (if you've bothered to use the stickers), so if a dozen or so velcro stickers on your door frame will bother you, I would think through whether this is the best option for you, or whether you're okay with the screen just hanging free from the tension rod. Without major wind, the weight of the screen with the magnets tends to keep it in place for use without securing the sides.FRENCH DOORS? The third Bug Off screen I put up was on our old wood doors... a classic french door where we don't usually have both of them open. One of them has both top and bottom locks, so we only open both wide for parties or moving furniture in or out), I wasn't sure how this would work with the screen.I would suggest if you have the same set up, look at the actual manufacturer's options since you can get something with a custom size the full width (pole and screen material) of the double door opening, but with the screen opening offset so it's in the middle of the door you actually use. In our case, I just got a size that fit the one door that we open, and I pop the tension rod and screen up each evening if we want that door open, then have to take it down to close it. Because we're having to use the edge of the other stationary door to hold up one side of the rod, the "working" door can't be closed or locked with the rod in place. I'm fine with this for now. It's all we need here since we don't have a lot of flying critters in California, but I thought I'd mention that they do have other options for french doors. AMAZON DOES CARRY SOME FRENCH DOOR SIZES, though I couldn't find them at the time I made my purchases. There were only 3 sizes available at the time, now I see 10 which is great! When we eventually invest in new french doors to replace our rain-damaged 18-yr-old wood french doors, I'll splurge on a custom retractable screen for this high profile location in our home. Unfortunately, retractables cost many hundreds of dollars each, and I seriously doubt I'll like them 500% more than the Bug Off screens. This is a great solution for now. Even down the road, for our less "high profile" doors, the Bug Off screens will continue to be just great. Ingenious product!

Not as good as expected ~ Especially after reading so many 5 star reviews
I purchased this product after reading the glowing 5 star reviews on Amazon. I must say, that while the screen is better than nothing, it's a far cry from being worthy of 5 stars. When the package arrived this afternoon, I was excited to finally be able to install a screen on the door leading to our balcony. Since we live in an apartment, a permanent screen wasn't an option. I searched the Internet for hours trying to find the best temporary screen on the market. This one seemed to fit the bill, and their website would lead you to believe that this is one of the finest products in the world. The website includes a video, testimonials, all sorts of additional information, etc. How could a buyer possibly go wrong. That's what I thought, so I went ahead and purchased it on Amazon. As with all products that claim to take 5 minutes to install, this one takes closer to 1/2 hour to install correctly. Yes, it can be installed in 5 minutes, but if you want it to fit precisely, you'll need a tape measure and some patience in constantly readjusting the top bar, so that it will be located at just the right height. To set up the screen, I did the following. I removed it from the carton. Than, I adjusted the rod so that it was approximately 1" - 2" wider than the opening of the door, as instructed to do so. Next, I placed the bar into the top tunnel on the screen. The screen comes with 2 tunnels. The top one is used for 80" height, while the one directly below the top one is for 78" to 79" height. So far, so good, pretty simple. Now, I took the bar and placed it between the 2 door jams. While this too is easy, it's a little difficult to place each side at the exact same height. It's also possible that the bar could break if extended the 1" - 2" beyond the opening of the door. This is because the bar consists of 2 pieces. When you unscrew the rod to up to 2" wider than the door, it's not only difficult to attach it to the door, but it also causes the bar to bend while you're trying to place it in the right position. The instructions tell you to place one side of the tension rod in the top corner of the door jam, while sliding the other side up. Since the bar isn't very strong, if you're not careful, you'll end up breaking it.Once I had the tension rod installed, the next step is to attach the hook and loop adhesive strips to the sides of the door jamb. Once again this is very simple, but you need to be sure that you're aligning them correctly on the door jam. In order to do so, you'll need to pull down slightly on the screen, so that there aren't any gaps in the area above the hook and loop strips. Once done with this, the next step is to press on the adhesive strips as hard as possible. Unless you do this, the strips will not stay in place on the door jam. In addition, since this screen is supposed to be able to be removed in the fall, I tested out the hook and loop strips and found that when I tried to separate them, the entire strip would come off of the door jam. The company needs to supply better quality adhesive strips, as these won't hold up when removing the screen at the end of the season. As for the screen itself, I give it mixed reviews. Once installed according to the directions, I walked through it several times. Not once did the magnets close properly. They came close to aligning up with each other, but in the end, I had to manually place them together each time I entered the screen. In addition there are gaps at both the top and bottom of the screen, so insects will be able to get in.The bottom line is that this seems to be a fairly well built temporary screen, but it could be a whole lot better. I've read in some of the reviews that you can replace the tension rod with a shower rod for greater effectiveness. Sure, you can do this, but I didn't purchase the screen as a product in which I would need to buy supplemental parts. The way I have it set up now, I believe that the tension rod will stay in place. It's only when installing it that you run into the possibility of it breaking, due to weak design. All in all this screen is a big improvement over nothing, but it will not completely eliminate insects from entering your home. Also, the magnets won't close properly and under windy conditions, the magnets are so weak that the entire screen is likely to blow around with the wind.Pros:A temporary screen is better than no screen. The screening material is very high quality. It allows you to keep your door open to let in fresh air.Cons:Weak tension bar, susceptible to breakage.Magnets do not align properly, manual adjustment is necessary each time.Hook and loop fasteners aren't strong enough. If you try to separate each piece, you'll end up pulling the entire adhesive strip off the door jam.Magnets aren't strong enough. There are gaps at both the top and bottom, thus screen isn't insect proof.Strong winds will separate the magnets and the screen will blow around with the wind.Suggestions to manufacturer:Include a higher quality tension rod.Use higher quality hook and loop fasteners.Use stronger magnets that will align properly.Test screen under windy conditions, than determine what type of magnets will keep the screen closed properly under these conditions.Devise a way so that there are no gaps at the top and/or bottom of the screen.Would I purchase again:Yes, because there doesn't appear to be anything better on the market.

Great product
We have been using the screens, front and back doors, for two years now. Our two standard poodles love it as they can go out and back in as they please. So far, the screens are holding up well and are no worst for wear.

Not bad. Not good. Don’t recommend.
Doesn’t fit my doors too well. So far it’s keeping bugs out, I’m pretty sure...8 MONTH UPDATEI work 4 days a week. And I go out one or twice on the weekend. Basically, I don’t go out much, so I’m not going through my door a whole lot. Nor do I have a lot of visitors. So all that being said, I would say my bug off screen gets very minimal usage. The rod has already broke. The spring inside no longer can hold in between the door.

Great for extra wide Sliding doors
Bought this for my balcony doors due to the width of the door being wider than most. Our apartment just renovated and unfortunately though there is space in the farm for screen doors our new balcony doorways didn't come with anything to prevent insects, and tracking one down the right size would have cost a small fortune. Even on the third floor of our apartment we get bugs coming inside in the summer and typically have a swarm of flies in the middle of our living room. In an apartment with no air conditioning it's hard to let go of having a door open for fresh air and a calm breeze but the bug problem is pretty bad. Thankfully this has solved all of our problems. The magnetic strips and velcro siding helps to keep the door sealed though it's not perfect as there are some gaps due to it not being pulled taught all the time. With the adjustable rod to wedge it into the door frame it fits perfectly though it's slightly oversized for the frame we're using. So far we've had no bug problems at all this summer, and with a recent wasps nest moving in we couldn't be happier to have this bug net stopping any unwanted guests from entering.

Works Great!
Had trouble finding an instant screen door wide enough. This one fits perfectly. Higher quality than the cheaper ones being advertised on TV and discount websites. Heavy screening material will last for years.
