When I opened the box, there was some dirt in the pot! Assembling it I found it defective!
I have 4 square pots from this company, that are fine. This one was wrapped in a plastic bag in an undamaged box, yet there was soil sticking to both pot and liner. The plant can't wait any longer for transplanting so I cleaned the parts and and put the gauge pieces together, but they gave me a hard time getting them attached to the liner. They kept falling apart. 4 times I took the liner out to put them together again. I have a number of these type of pots with water gauges in them, I know how to assemble these gauge systems. Then I finally got the liner into the pot, only to discover it was too small for the pot! There was a ¼ inch gap between the liner and the pot. Then I planted the plant. I used a length of moisture wicking to seal the gap, so soil wouldn't get into the water chamber! Then I added water through the tubing to the water chamber. The water measuring device is broken, doesn't work at all. Then it fell apart again. Lifted the liner out and took the water measuring device apart to see if I missed something or other. All the parts were there it was assembled correctly, and this time I made certain it wouldn't fall apart again. But with 3+inches of water in the base. The floater would not rise. So I removed the liner again, dumped half the water out and I'll have to water by measured amounts. A nuisance, but at least now I know why the pot was dirty. Someone else discovered it was defective and returned it! They just replaced it in stock and never looked at it! That pot was defective and used! Now I'm stuck with it. Next time I get the better quality pots from the other supplier I usually use. I have a couple pots from this company that were fine. But this experience frosts me! I won't recommend and I won't vilify. I've stated my experience and you can make your own call. MaryAnnCoy-Schuerger.

Great little pot
I love the self watering feature of this pot. It's perfect for my maidenhair fern who does not like to dry out!

Everything is ok, until you have to email Scott
I have a few of these pots. I noticed that the smaller pots are fine. But if you get a 5" or 7" planter the tolerances get a lot worse. The inner pots are just flopping around inside the outer shell. I received one 7" pot and when I opened the box and the only thing in it was the outer shell. I emailed Scott a few times never getting a reply. I guess as long as they have my money they are fine and Customer Satisfaction doesn't matter. There are to many self watering planters on Amazon to have worry about if you are getting a planter that you can use or not. So I am moving on from this company. Never to give them another dime of my money. Horrible Customer Service, and they should take out that little card from "Scott". They obviously do not care about the end user.

Great value and design - and comes with soil!
I shopped everywhere for a self-watering pot for my african violet, and finally decided on this. It comes with a big compressed coconut soil disc, which you put in a bag with water and rehydrate to fluff it up. It works really well! It's actually fun, too.... It's the perfect amount of soil for the pot, and the color and consistency look really nice - like the fake dirt they put on display plants. The water area has a little grate that you pour the water into, which sits in the bottom of the pot and is absorbed upwards. The gauge has a styrofoam ball that floats on the water, letting you know how much liquid is there. The color is more of a teal than a blue, but it's very pretty, anyway. I liked it so much, I ordered another larger one to replant my money tree!

Not what I received
I ordered a 7" white round self-watering pot. What I received was a 5" squarish grey self-water pot. The label on the box says 7" white while the box itself says 5" (see picture). It could be a simple mislabel. I'll update the review if/when I get the correct item.

Best Self Watering Planter for my Indoor Plants!
I absolutely love these self-watering planters for my indoor plants! I think the design is wonderful (chic and modern) that goes with any home aesthetic! The best thing is that I do not need to worry or remember to water my plants as it does it for me! I stay busy at work and at home and like to travel often so sometimes my plants get neglected, but with the self-watering planters, I can still enjoy having plants and be worry-free on watering them every day! I am ordering some for my sister and plan on buying this item as a gift for mother's day!

Disappointed.
I’m disappointed in this. The inner pot takes up too much space in the pot for the size I was expecting. You should probably order at least 2” larger. It was difficult assembling the water meter because pieces of the base broke apart. I’ve ended up drilling holes in the bottom and not using the inner pot at all. I feel like I waisted my money on this brand. I’ll continue to search for another self watering pot.

Nice pot, it’ll do!
I like this planter. I don’t love it. I feel like water sits in the bottom and can attract gnats. It also has no lip on the edge so I find it hard to pick up with one hand. I found it easy to assemble. Instructions were easy to follow. I like the color of the pot. It’s light weight and a great size.
