Our Shiba Inu loves lotion time
We had recently gotten a rescue dog with severe hair loss and a severe yeast infection on his entire body (and he was malnourished and completely blind found wandering as a stray). He of course was put on antibiotics and antifungal oral medication and a weekly bath. But in between that weekly bath I felt like he was very itchy and scaly and it might’ve been hard for the fur to grow back with all the scaling and scabbing over. So I read good reviews on this lotion and decided to try it. Plus it said that the scent was fairly pleasant and hopefully it would cover up the very strong yeast smell that he initially had. At first I was putting it over a very large portion of his body as you can see in the first picture most of his skin on his back and turn black from the east infection. I put very generous amounts on it and rubbed it in for about 5 to 10 minutes with my bare hands and he really seem to enjoy getting the massage with the lotion. It kept his skin very moisturized and I was doing it daily in the evenings. And with an even the first week he had a considerable amount of hair growth showing and I put it on a smaller and smaller area as the ball patch gets smaller. And the scent of the lotion did seem to help and it knocked down the yeasty smell considerably within the first 3 to 4 days. It has now been almost exactly 3 weeks and he still has a little bald patch down the center of his back but he has quite a bit of fur that has grown in and I really think this lotion has helped a lot with his dryness and just getting his skin stimulated to grow the far back again. I bought a second bottle because I did go through a whole bottle in a little more than two weeks but I anticipate it won’t take as much lotion now since most of his body is not bare anymore . I highly recommend this for itchy bald patches on dogs. For the results the price is a great value.

Plain and simple, it worked.
I have a 4 year old Pom that has had black skin for 2.5 years. My beautiful little girl looked like she had mange. People were afraid to touch her she looked so bad. Other than to try steroids the vets said that there was nothing I could do for her. After reading reviews on the dermagic web site, I figured what the heck we will give it a try. Number 1, it STINKS. Number 2, it WORKS! Number 3, be patient. My lil girls black skin was very, very bad. Grease up your dog and put on a t shirt ( I used baby onesies and cut off the bottom), trust me you do not want this stuff all over your house. This takes months to complete but it does work. What I first noticed after 3 weeks or so was little dark globs stuck to her tufts of remaining fur. At first I thought she was picking up dirt because she was so greasy but then realized that it was the black skin sloughing off. For some reason she has been healing from the underside first, slowly working up to the spine, back of neck and tail. It has been 7 months and we are using about 1 large bottle of lotion a month. I will not quit until the black skin is all gone. People are amazed at the transformation. I myself could see it slowly working and people thought I was nuts. Now the joke is on them. I have even gotten apologizes from friends saying they thought I was insane using the snake oil on my doggie. After 7 months of treatment my darlin has fur everywhere but her spine and tail areas. For some reason that is the worst area. But once I see the little balls sloughing off in her fur I know that is the next area of healing. My baby is almost back to her beautiful self. Her new fur is soft and beautiful. This is no quick treatment. It is not a one bottle deal. It can take up to a year! The bottom line is, it plain ole works. It is natural and you are not pumping your dog full of drugs that may or may not work. Believe it or not the years treatment is cheaper than buying the steroids. I recommend using the bar shampoo, it is really nice. The conditioner is extremely hard to get out of the bottle, but use it. After a while you get used to the smell. When company comes over, they do look around a bit looking for THAT smell! Anyway, I do not usually give reviews, on this one I just had to. If you are willing to invest the time, it will work.

From black skin to fluffy fur in ONE MONTH!!!
I'm a believer! Don't let vets tell you that Alopecia X is not curable and that there's nothing you can do. Vets are educated to treat a variety of pets, so I doubt that there are many who specialize in alopecia or Pomeranians. But therein lies the problem. This is a breed specific disease in a dog. I'd be surprised if vets knew every disease that afflicted every breed of dog and how to treat it, let alone how to treat all the other various pets out there. There just isn't enough time in a lifetime for them to learn all these things and its up to us breed lovers to solve some of these breed specific issues. My pom had the dreaded Alopecia X, or Black Skin's Disease. He basically stopped growing long guard hairs a few years ago, and all he had left was this scruffy wiry "fur" that wouldn't grow very long. Over time, it got worse and worse to the point where I could see the pink skin underneath. Then he started developing black spots on his body. They looked like bruises and I sometimes worried that he had somehow injured himself. Then I realized that this was alopecia and text book black skin disease. I tried giving him melatonin and while he happily ate them like candy, I didn't see much in the way of changes;. I bought this lotion as a last resort and after rubbing it on his body for a few days, much to my horror, he started to develop even more black spots on his body. Eventually, the black spots began to flake off and completely bare pink skin was underneath. Eventually his entire back got black and then skin started flaking off all over. I kept using the lotion despite this. I thought it was the end when this happened but within a week, I noticed fur starting to grow where the black spots had flaked off. Lo and behold, a few weeks later and he now has a bed of fresh fur growing back where his skin flaked off. I can tell that this new fur is real fur too, the beginnings of guard hairs that I haven't seen in years!! I will post pictures when it grows long enough to show a clear difference! But holy moly , this product works! Thank you Dermagic for your miracle fur regrowth product. Maybe you all should get into the business of hair regrowth products for humans!! ;) By the way, I want to mention that from the before pic to the after pic only spans 28 days. I wouldn't believe it either if I didn't have the iPhone timestamps to prove it. Update: September 2018 - my pom's fur is out of control, he's a giant puff ball only 4 months later! I keep trying to upload a picture but amazon won't seem to let me. check out my review on the Dermagic Shampoo page where there are some more pictures. I also love the shampoo!!

Awesome stuff it helped my puppy!
My dog had several spots that were infected areas under the fur, I used neosporin on them before we could get in to see the vet. When we got him his appointment the spots were healed mostly just scabby dried skin, bumps under the skin, missing fur and darkened skin and the vet didn't Rx any antibiotic at all since the infection had already cleared. Well I had got this the day of the appt. and started applying it when we got home using a q-tip onto the spots that were missing hair, bumps etc. I reapplied every day to the spots and the bumps started going away, the dry skin cleared up and the skin started lightening everyday. I could actually see it working! His hair is even growing back and you can hardly see where the infected spots were, I have to look at him in full sunlight to find where the shorter hairs/missing hairs were at since I am still applying it every other day with q-tips to make sure the skin turns back to the original color. Its tough to find the spots!!! Definitely recommend it and I am so glad they didn't have to shave him to look at/care for the infection again!

Too stinky to use
My lab has many skin issues. This did seem to help with the summer belly rash he gets from grass as we’re trying not to put him on steroids again. The smell isn’t bad right out of the gate but it’s the AFTER that’s unbearable. The sulfur smell gets into everything and it’s taken a good month of washing towels, bedding etc with vinegar, baking soda, febreze to finally start smelling the end of it! It’s still lingering in some items though. Believe what everyone writes-it does soothe skin, but you have to decide if the smell is worth it.

Pomeranian with alopecia/BSD-- it worked!
My Pomeranian began losing his coat approximately two years ago, when he was 1.5 years old-- we first noticed it on his back legs, and over the next year the hair loss slowly crept up to his stomach. I took him to our vet, who suspected alopecia. I then took him to a dermatology specialist who confirmed Alopecia X by taking a skin biopsy and sending it to a lab in Tennessee. I was told there wasn't anything I could do to treat it, but that it wouldn't hurt him. I had read about DERMagic online and decided to give it a try. I started it in October of 2023, only applying it to his bald spots on his stomach. At first I didn't think it was working. Two months later (middle of December) his skin suddenly became really flakey and much to my shock new hair started to sprout. At that point his bald spots began to move up toward his chest and sides, and so I "chased" them with the DERMagic lotion, still spot-treating. In hindsight this prolonged his treatment and I would have been much better off clipping him short right and applying it all over when I first started treatment in October (as DERMagic recommends on their website). Instead, I held off on clipping him short until March (picture on red rug), and that's when his hair loss really accelerated on his sides and back (picture on pink rug). It wasn't pretty, but you can see the healthy new hair coming in on his stomach and chest (picture wearing a tie). His coat finished growing in through July, and as of today he still has only a little tiny bit left to grow near his tail (last two photos). I had stopped applying the DERMagic due to traveling, etc, but have recently started applying it again to that area, and it's already filling in. Overall his coat is as silky and thick as it was before and consists of both an undercoat and guard hairs. To say his groomer and vet are absolutely shocked by the results would be an understatement! Helpful tips for DERMagic: Consider clipping short and applying all over right from the get-go. I also started him at twice-a-day per their recommendation, but eventually decreased to once every 2-3 days as his skin became more flakey and irritated. It's helpful to have "puppy pajamas" (scored some from Target and Petco around the holidays) or a onesie to use overnight to help contain the lotion and the flakes. Other things that may have helped: I started him on a raw diet (Stella and Chewy's dehydrated patties, which he LOVES) although he was previously on a very high quality kibble recommended by his breeder. He has always been itchy, and so I also started him on Apoquel in the middle of December, right around the same time his new hair started coming in. He gets fish oil on his food every morning and melatonin 2x a day with his meals (we started melatonin back when his hair loss first started and it didn't seem to do anything, but we're too nervous to stop now). Overall we're thrilled that he is no longer shivering and has his beautiful coat back!

Pomeranian with Alopecia/BSD
WOW! I had to edit my review because just when I had given up on the product and written a bad review, less than one week later my Pomeranians hair started to grow back! I used this product every night for 6 weeks straight and finally saw re growth just as I finished my first bottle. See photo of how her she’s experiencing new growth(the red patches)! Miracle product! Glad I committed to using this daily!
