First thought: great packaging.... within 10 hours my thoughts, POS leash. It is advertised for dogs up to 220 lbs... my 70 lb dog snapped this leash and almost got hit by a car. I understand the dog should have been in better control, but he's a 6 month old Pyrenees in training. I would not recommend this leash unless you have an older dog that stays by your side. I trusted this leash and the advertising, BIG MISTAKE! Spend the extra $5-10 for a better quality, more durable leash. Waste of money.

I really like the leash, however if you look close you can see one side of the leash is damaged. It appears that on a "rewind" it went off to the side and twisted when rewinding. My biggest concern is the integrity of the leash now. I have two strong German Shepherds that use this leash.

I have to ammend my most recent review..I ordered another one of these leashes because the Web Guys were so kind to replace the first on that malfuntioned and told us to keep the broken one. WELL: the new one did not last either but we took the first on apart and fixed it ourselves and it is still working. WELL the most recent one has now malfuntioned and it is to late to return.to Amazon. I am very dipleased and would NOT recommend this product.I have to ammend my earlier post. Though the first leash was faulty, the replacement that was sent is awesome and I appreciate the HappyDogz.net people for their fast and very caring response. I am a customer for life. They take great care of you and care about you animals too! Thanks so much Jude. :-)I was happy with this item for a few days (4) until the locking mechanism quit working and it was not even on the dog. Though I will get a refund it still leaves me without a leash and I have to send the other back. So I have to go buy another leash and do not feel I can do that online because of the return policy. Good grief, what a pain. Very disappointed, I had such high hope for this product.

It works like most retractable leashes... I would not recommend it for a large dog, as they advertise... My dog is 85lbs... He has jammed this thing up 3 times... I was able to repair it 3 times... Two days ago, he broke what sounds like plastic teeth on the gear inside, and it no longer works at all... When I looked at the warranty it ran out 30 days after I got it... Imagine that!!! Live, and learn... I wouldn't recommend this to large dog owners... 30 day warranty is awful...

This is rated for up to a 220 pound dog. My dog weighs 67 pounds, and the retraction mechanism was broken in about 10 minutes of use. The leash itself (the nylon webbing) is probably rated to 220 pounds, but the mechanism will not take any abuse at all. I replaced this with a Flexi, which costs about the same amount and is immensely sturdier. My brother has a Flexi which he had for a decade to use with his border collie, and that leash works with the same dog that broke this Happydogz leash in a few minutes. The best part about this leash is that it broke so quickly so it could be returned.

One of the best purchases I've made since we got our Labra-doodle! Training him to walk on a leash without pulling has become easier with this leash. I love the that the cord is long enough to give him freedom to do his "business" without my having to be so close up on him :-). Very easy to use and so far there haven't been any jamming issues. I've also noticed that when he hears the click (when I lock the leash) the sound immediately gets his attention; he turns his head to see what I want him to do, which is typically to slow down. This leash retracts with ease and there is a lot less tugging! We BOTH enjoy or walks together now. Bourbon is 70lbs so having a leash that was strong enough to handle him was a huge concern for me. This product by far exceeds my expectations!

I am giving this product 1 star only because I think that is the only way to give a review. I am very disappointed in the quality of the product. I spent more time fighting with the leash to get it to work properly. The little Happy Dog plastic logo was at the bottom of the leash when I opened the package ( not as pictured when viewing the product) and it continued to move around due to the adhesive used. What is more important is the leash kept getting stuck, I spent more time trying to get the leash unstuck so there was no fun for my dog. There was a WARNING on the package "Ensure you read the enclosed booklet before using this leash". There was no enclosed booklet, maybe the booklet would have provided information on how to quickly get the leash unstuck.. Also, the "FREE" dog grooming eBook valued at $27.00 could not be downloaded from their website. I will be sending this back and making a trip to the local B&M pet store.

Do not buy this leash! I only had it two days and the ribbon started to fray and if my dog pulled the leash all the way out, it wouldn't retract unless you hit it on the ground, a tree or your hand. It won't lock when you need it to or it will lock all by itself. I locked it once but when i tried to pull my dog it came unlocked by itself which caused me to stumble backwards and fall. This leash is suppose to be the best, very durable and for dogs up to 220 lbs. My dog is 143 lbs and it can't handle him. This leash is no better than the cheap ones I've bought in the past and has exactly the same issues. Don't waste your money on it! The leash has a 10 year 100% money back guarantee, in that case, I'm going to try to get my money back and the Happydogz company can have their cheap piece of junk back. Oh, an by they way, the gray rubber piece on the handle kept coming off and it also ripped so I had to glue it back on.
