Have been reading this as research for my YA novel, and am pleasantly surprised at how much I've enjoyed it.The book is comprehensive without being too exhaustive; well-formatted, well paced, and adds just enough detail to make it breathe.I highly recommend having a good atlas beside you and diligently looking up every city, island, and peninsula that it mentions.

this book is perfect for that
We are about to take a Mediterranean cruise and i wanted to get a little incite into the history of the area. this book is perfect for that.

The book I ordered was what I expected as a used book of reasonably good quality. The colored pictures are excellent.

Good Read!
I am taking a class where this book is required and I've actually been really pleased with it. Sometimes it goes too in depth and over my head within a historical or cultural context, but overall it's a really fantastic book!

The Mediterranean in History David Abulafia
Beautiful narrative of the development and sources of our western civilization. As you read, you feel being a participant in the diferent instances of the whole story. Exquisitely pictured.

Where are the maps?
Lots of good pictures, but not one decent physical or political map to help the reader orient himself with the text. Thirty-five dollars for a history book with no maps?

Pro: correct categorization of the condition of the book = no surprises; plus timely delivery.Con: flimsy plastic-wrap packaging, which is all too common these days for used book dealers.
