Margot has a true gift for writing in a way that teenagers think and also knowing what they need to feel safe and loved. She creates a loving community of women that support each other and make you want to jump in the book and be a part of them. I have learned a great deal from this book that I am using and can't wait to read the next one.

I loved this book! I am a teacher at a small elementary/middle school and I read this book so that I could recommend it to some of the girls in school who are beginning to transition into womanhood. I think it would be a great book for young women who are coming of age and beginning to make decisions and choices of their own. I too learned a great deal from reading Anessa's Gift and look forward to sharing the book with young and old women alike! I think this would be a great mother-daughter read and that both generations would enjoy it!Margot Hawk writes of inner intuition and knowing, the importance of celebrating life changes, true friendship, living without judgement for oneself and others, love for community and family, the wisdom of elders and the wisdom of the voice inside ourselves. Margot uses Anessa and her friend's journeys from young girls through puberty to exemplify these topics.This is a wonderful book, thank you Margot for this Gift!

Even though this is directed at teenage girls mostly I found it to be a captivating look at how transformative using affirmations, wise women and affirming rituals can be to changing lives. The pacing is very good-not rushed allowing us to see all of the pain and joy that is part of the lives brought forth in the novel. Would make a great read for anyone but especially its target audience who have great need to know that they are valued and valuable

This is an excellent book for young girls coming of age. Written from a young girl's view point and with the sensitivity of a young girl's feelings, it's a wonderful gift for those exploring what it means to be a young woman. Susan Vincent

This book is a must read for women of all ages. It is timeless and long overdue. This author has tremendous insight into the wonder of womanhood which has much too long gone unrecogonized. It is an easy read which you will find difficult to set aside once you have begun the journey that unfolds inside the cover. It is easy to step inside and find yourself woven throughout this beautifully written book.This book would make a wonderful gift for all of the women in your life, both young and old.

Anessa's gift could be a resource that can be used by both young and old. This book would have great impact if it was presented to all middle school children and their parents, giving young people the opportunity to relate their own personal experiences to Anessa's story and giving parents the tools to assist them.
