Agratronix Coffee Moisture Tester Model 08150

I wanted a better way than guessing to check moisture content of the cacao beans I'm drying. A friend introduced me to this tester, and I had to have one. It is awesome! It requires two 9V batteries (not included) but it's so easy to use, and gives fast results. Just open the testing chamber, pour in a bunch of beans, screw down the lid, then turn it on and press the Test button. The included instructions are mostly pretty good, but can be a bit difficult to interpret for someone new to the field. One caveat: you will have to screw down the lid harder than you would think necessary in order to get the metal button to rise to flush with the plastic cap (per instructions). The button plunger is kind of stiff. Also, customer support was responsive and proactive. I emailed a question about operating, they responded within a few days with an offer to replace anything that was not right. Fortunately my question was simple, no replacements necessary, my tester is still working just fine. My neighbor across the road (who wrote a very nice book about small scale cacao production) is now totally jealous. Maybe I will get one for her, for all the help she's given me to get started making chocolate.

We bought this machine based on a recommendation of another farmer. Have used it for a full coffee harvest season to test coffee parchment moisture content. Worked great.

Ease of use is its strogest feature. Excellent for my use, humidity of parchment coffee. Only flaw, if you drop the lid, you'll have to buy the whole unit to replace it. I haven't been able to purchase just the lid.

Received one with the wrong software downloaded. Even though it said coffee, it had every grain or bean I could think of except coffee. Seller unhelpful, took multiple messaged for them to just refer me back to Amazon for a refund.
