Almost Perfect
I bought this last year but waited until now to review, as I was very happy with my previous mattress pad until I took it out for the second winter, and the heating elements no longer worked. I have had no such issues with this! The mattress pad was carefully folded and put in storage, and when taken out, worked perfectly. Things that set this mattress pad apart from others: Both the wires and padding around it are thicker. I have sensory issues that can make it hard for me to fall asleep, and I was never kept awake by the feeling of the wires. Heats quickly - I feel the warmth almost immediately after turning it on. A single controller - as a single person in a queen bed, I appreciated the ability for me to purchase a single controller, so I did not have to twiddle with two different ones to heat my whole bed. Durability - good instructions, product lasted longer than the more common brand. A couple of things that would make this perfect: Controller still wired to face a particular direction, which is coincidentally the opposite direction that works for my bed configuration. I really like that the top foot or so of the bed does not have heating elements, but I wish it were zoned from top to bottom. I never need heat from the waist up, but my legs and feet are practically blocks of ice. If I fall asleep while the mattress pad is on, I will wake up in the middle of the night sweaty and uncomfortable. This could also be ameliorated by a timer function. I'd love to be able to set it to heat for an hour, and then switch off (or switch to a lower setting). All in all, this is a great product, and well worth the money. I have recommended it to multiple people. If you are on the fence about the higher cost, know that there's a good chance you will be replacing that "cheaper" model after a year anyway.

Better than Sunbeam, and
I had a dual control Sunbeam heated mattress pad that failed after a few years of use. When I searched Amazon for a replacement, I found this Electrowarmth mattress pad with a similar price point. However, when I found out that Electrowarmth is made in the USA, I decided to give it a try instead of just getting an exact-replacement Sunbeam pad. I am very glad I did. The Electrowarmth pad has dual controls, like the Sunbeam, but each control goes to its own plug at the bottom of the pad. The Sunbeam had a single attachment point on the pad. The single plug had two output cables that went to the left and right sides, but were not well identified as to which control was for which side. Several times with the Sunbeam, I would get the left side control and the right side control switched, and then my wife would turn on what she thought was her control but my side would heat up. Since she likes a warmer bed than I do, I would cook while she was chilly. The Electrowarmth warms up the mattress quickly. When I turn on my control, my bed side is comfy within 5 minutes. The Sunbeam heater would take at least 15 minutes to heat up to a comfortable level. The Electrowarmth controller seems very reliable. The Sunbeam controllers had a habit of displaying "FF" on both screens at least once a week. When the FF code appears on the Sunbeam controllers, the wall plug must be removed and reinserted to clear the error message. A word about customer service: One of my controllers had some sort of electrical problem so that it would not turn on. This problem appeared about a week after the pad was installed. I wrote to Electrowarmth and explained the problem. They sent out a replacement controller within 24 hours, and at no extra cost to me, not even for shipping. I did not have to return the defective controller (which includes the cable), either. I am very pleased with the Electrowarmth mattress pad and can recommend it.

Split king (a.k.a. twin xl) make sure to read the tag on the mattress 80 or 84 inches if 80 buy the twin long not xl.
These warmers are fantastic. We used to have a sunbeam for our king sized mattress and it was great, but there is something about the way this warms that I like better. I do wish that the controls lit up better for changing temperatures at night, and that the cord was 1-2 feet longer as it plugs at the foot of the bed (so we run ours underneath the bed to the plug at the head of the bed and then drape it over the head board. We recently purchased two twin xl mattresses for our king adjustable bed. On the store label, they are labeled as such. They are different brands, and both labeled as twin xls. When I put them on our mattresses I had to fold the one on my mattress over the top of the mattress a little because it seemed a bit long. I'd also like to note that on my mattress it slides a lot due to the different fabric on top of the mattress. (Latex Restonic Healthrest my husband has a Serta Innerspring). Last night while my mattress was upright I noticed that the controller was going a bit crazy, jumping numbers. I called customer service this morning and the representative suggested that I try the controller again. The bed was flat and it was working fine. She then had me measure my mattress, which I did and when I looked at the tag it said 38x80 inches....too short for the size I purchased. That explained having to wrap the top part around the mattress more on my side. My husbands twin xl mattress also said it was 80 inches long on the mattress tag as well, he had had no problem with the controller, but hadn't raised his bed. We determined that the pad was probably bunching a bit when I had my mattress up and it was setting off the automatic safety feature on the control. It was probably getting too hot thus not functioning correctly and I suspect that if I had let it go a bit longer it would have shut off. So I'm returning the xls and repurchasing the TWIN LONG. Those are 38x80 inches. I hope this helps anyone who is looking to purchase for a split king. just make sure to check the measurements on the mattress first. I suspect that many of them will be 80 inches long, even though the tags say xl. I should have measured the mattress before I purchased, but I just assumed that an xl was the same standard length. My bad. But hopefully this will help someone else from making the same mistake. One other thing I like about this heater is that it is not heated at the head of the bed. I like my pillow to be cold so this is perfect. I love that it is made in the USA and that a real person answered my questions from customer service.

Great (and so far) reliable heating
I've had a few electric blankets and one other heated mattress pad. My prior heated mattress pad was nothing but an annoyance. If I accidentally put my foot anywhere near the plug (which was easy to do since it was almost 5 or 6 inches up from the very foot of the bed) the controller would error out, requiring you to unplug it and plug it back in to reset the error. Sometimes it would error all on its own (or possibly my cat jumped on it). Also, it didn't heat the bottom part of the bed at all where the feet are which really is the worst part for me because by the time I get in bed, my feet are cold. Thankfully that is NOT the case with this heated mattress pad. The heat goes pretty much edge to edge (left/right), and from the very bottom of the bed, right up to about the upper chest/shoulders area. Yes the plug is technically up where you can kick it, but it's at the very end of the bed (not 5 inches up like on my previous well known brand) and more toward the corner. It doesn't bother me nearly as much as my previous mattress pad. Also, so far, the mattress pad just works, ALL NIGHT. I haven't yet had it error on me once where as my previous one I had to practically make an effort to avoid kicking the plug all night long. Granted I haven't had to wash it yet, but I can't use that excuse with my previous one as it error from day one. My only real issues with it are the fit, and it doesn't have a preheat function. Yes, I measured my bed to make sure I was getting the right fit. The fit issue is kind of a two part problem. The elastic fabric part that is used to wrap around the mattress isn't quite big enough to really get a firm grip on my mattress. Also, the mattress pad itself is kinda slick on the mattress so if you toss/turn through the night you could eventually start to loosen the pad and it'll kind of bunch up a little under the fitted sheet. As for the preheat function (which the directions says it turns on at a higher heat than the set heat, but I don't notice it), it's not a deal breaker but it was a really nice feature I got very used to with my previous mattress pad (when it didn't error out while pre-heating). It was nice being able to set the pre-heat on 10 or so minutes prior to getting into bed and having a very toasty warm bed to get in which will either automatically drop back down to your previous setting, or you can hit the up/down buttons and it would return to your previous setting. As mentioned earlier, the directions mention something about not having to turn it on at a higher setting as it will actually warm the mattress pad at a higher setting prior to going back down. I haven't really noticed this. I tried it while getting ready for bed once and if it was doing it, it wasn't very noticeable. Also some have mentioned the controls being difficult to manage in the middle of the night since you need to press a button for anything to light up. Personally I prefer that. My previous one was ALWAYS lit in some way. The power button was always lit even when it wasn't on, and when it was on the Down was a bright blue and the up was a bright red and was horribly bright. Who ever thought having a bright blue light shining in your eyes (or cast all over your entire bedroom) at night was a brilliant idea must have either never used the product or can sleep through anything. I've only had it for about 2-3 weeks so I'll update this if anything comes up.

Finally my bed is warm!
The Electrowarmth Mattress Pad is superior to any of the electric blankets I've used in the last 30 years. When you use a heated blanket, more than half the heat escapes up, away from you, so you get little only a little heat from a blanket. But a mattress pad is under you so heat doesn't escape... it goes up to warm you. I think even the heat that goes down eventually is conducted back up to you, so you're warmer. I find that I use this in a low setting, L or 1, and it keeps me warm all night. When you first turn it on it fires up extra warm for a few minutes, so you don't have to do any adjusting to preheat your bed; it's a nice plus. The only downside, as others have pointed out, is the controller light goes off rather quickly and in the dark you can't tell by looking if it's on or not. It's true that all you have to do is push a button; if the light comes on, it's on, and if it doesn't come on it's off. Of course, that still doesn't indicate what the status was before you pushed the button (well, presumably, if you turned it on, it was off, and vice versa, but you might have pushed one of the up or down buttons and not the power button, so you can't be sure). I understand that, but it IS confusing and I really would rather not have to think about it that much when I'm trying to sleep. The company says it's to save power, but they could light it with an led and use very little power. They should change this feature. Electrowarmth is available in more sizes than other manufacturers; that was important. Be sure to check actual measurements on your mattress and don't just go by size names. I found Twin XL from one company was really just the shorter twin length, and from Electrowarmth Twin XL is longer than my Twin XL mattress. But by checking the size in inches, I got a pad that was exactly right. I also liked that the electrical connection is just off the end of the pad, while another manufacturer had it on top of the pad, in the middle, right where my feet would be. I also I like that it is made in the USA. The sides could be a bit deeper to accommodate today's thick mattresses, but I was able to get the elastic edges to just barely fit. You can have one made with deeper sides by calling the factory and paying a bit extra, but they really should make this standard. My mattress is new but not overly thick, and it barely fits. In summary, I'm giving this 5 stars because it does the job better than anything I've bought in the past, and it's the right size. I've been using it for about two months so I can't attest to how long it works. If I could I'd give it four and one-half stars because of the controller light, but I don't want to go as low as four. I think you'll be pleased with this purchase.

Three years and counting, BUT...
I'm a big fan of heated mattress pads (vs electric blankets). They seem to last longer (I've had several electric blankets break in the last few years), the heat is more even, and I like the heat from below rather than above. I've used an electric mattress pad on my own bed for several years now and been very happy with it. I picked up this twin-size pad for my 8 year old son, who was envious of my warm bed. He loves it! We turn it on about 15 minutes before bed, and he always climbs into a warm bed. We usually turn it off after he gets into bed, but on some cold nights he's left it on "Low" and gone right to sleep. It's a great feeling to have a warm bed, especially when the house is cold! Update, 3 years later: Unlike other electric blankets and mattress warmers I've purchased over the last 15 or so years, this one is STILL heating like new! I do have a couple of gripes that may or may not be issues for you: - The skirt that keeps the warmer snug against the mattress is a bit flimsy. After seasonally changing it a few times, the stitching ripped out along one edge. Ever since, I've been careful to treat it gently, and it hasn't gotten worse, so just remember to actually walk around your mattress to remove it from each corner, and don't try to whip it off the corners from the opposite side of the bed. But this isn't why I've lowered my rating. - You can't use this warmer with a timer or any sort of remote-operated outlet (like a home-automation, x-10, z-wave, insteon, or wifi outlet, or even a switched outlet). If the power to your outlet has been off, and gets switched on, the warmer still has to be manually turned on with its controls. Why is this a big issue for me? Well, I've been installing home-automation switches and outlets so that I can turn devices on and off with my iPhone, and this is definitely one of those devices that I want to control remotely (or even put on a timer). I frequently forget to trudge upstairs and turn the warmer on an hour before bed, and I'd like to be able to do it while watching TV downstairs, or simply have the knowledge that a simple timer will do it for me. Hence, I'm dinging them, in the hope that you, like I, find 3-star reviews to be the ones with the most helpful information for otherwise potentially great products. I spoke with an Electrowarmth representative who said that this feature has been requested (although infrequently), and that she knew of no plans to alter the functionality. If this feature is important to you, please call them and request it!

Works excellent
Excellent, did better than I expected. Routing the wires are the only drawback since you aren’t supposed to tuck them under the mattress out of the way of tripping. In an RV space is critical.

The number is for those people that throw away the directions without taking down the number for the company. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis and hurt constantly. The only thing that helps is heat so when winter came last year I was looking for electric blankets for the bed but decided to go with a mattress pad for the difference in how the heat is dispersed. Over the past two years I have bought two cheap Sunbeams thinking they're all the same. Wrong. Sometimes you do really get what you pay for. Both of the Sunbeams controllers went out, one within a year and the 2nd one was only a couple of months. I'm still trying to get in touch with them to see if they'll send me new controllers. In the meantime, I really needed that heat in the cold weather so came looking for mattress pads again. I've only had this one a week and I'm loving it so far. However, one of the controllers didn't work. I've just gotten off the phone with the company and talked to a nice man named Dan who is sending out a new controller tomorrow. I believe he is one of or the owner of the company. He apologized profusely and told me to make sure to call them back if I had any more problems. They also do after warranty repairs if you need them. I followed their instructions or suggestions on here and ordered a cheap cotton mattress pad to put over the elec. one. With Fibro I feel every single little thing close to my skin and the extra mattress pad took care of that problem. I was always restless at night trying to find a spot for my shoulders on the Sunbeams where I wasn't laying on those wires. Granted if I had thought it was safe I probably would have done the 2nd pad with the Sunbeams but that still wouldn't have fixed the problem of the controllers going out. This mattress pad had such good reviews I decided to spend the extra money to see if there would be a difference between this and SB. So far, I'm loving this pad a whole hell of a lot compared to the SB. The heat is evenly dispersed and I love that part at the top that has no heat more than I thought I would. Since I've only had this a week, I'm going to give it more time and see how it does. I love the fact it is made in the US, it's a nice thick pad and I have no problem with seeing the controllers or changing them. The cords are nice and long, even the one from the controller to the electric outlet. If something happens I'll come back and edit this. But right now I'm going to say you can buy with confidence.
