As a certified Orton Gillingham instructor, I am always on the lookout for quality resources to assist me in my lesson writing. This is one of those resources. The beginning of the book includes "Ideas For Using This Book" that includes several pages of suggestions and tips. The phonogram and sound-spelling lists are in alphabetical order, with the specific phonogram or spelling in the upper corner of the pages for easily finding what is needed.These letter combination word lists include individual short vowels and consonants, blends, digraphs, spelling rules such as FLOSS, and ending blends, just to name a few. These lists are quite exhaustive! Where typical lists may be difficult to follow due to varying scope and sequences, these charts allow you to see at a glance which concepts are included in which words. So, for example, if you are doing the "SL" consonant blend, you can see words that have "SL" with short vowels, digraphs, VCe, vowel teams, and ending blends. It's all there in a handy chart. You can easily choose the words that fit YOUR scope and sequence and ones that fit your students skills. I think this resource would be especially helpful for student groups that have differing levels of skills. It would be simple to look up words appropriate for each student.The charts also include suffixes -s/-es/'s, -ed, -ing, -y/-ly, -er, and -est. When the suffix can be added to that baseword, it is included in the chart. Compound words are also included. The benefit of this is the ability to incorporate more complex concepts more quickly and to use larger words, if desired. And again, organized and easy to find what is needed.Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and will buy again when additional volumes become available.

I purchased Volumes 1-4 of these Orton Gillingham Word List Dictionaries and absolutely LOVE them!! I'm an elementary school teacher and I make decodabe readers, reading passages, phonics games, etc. for my students to use. I was on the search for a SIMPLE, Easy-to-use resource that was organized by phonics patterns, syllable types, etc. These books are EXACTLY what I was looking for-- just pages and pages of word lists that I can pull from based on what phonics skill my students are working on. These dictionaries have saved me so much time, as I no longer have to search and search for words to use. A huge thank you to the author!

This book has numerous word lists that correlate with teaching consonants, short vowels, blends, compound words and more. It is a great resource to help teach multi sensory reading lessons. Templates are included that can be used as printed or individualized. I teach 1st and 2nd SPIRE reading and I will be using this book to supplement our learning in school and for parents to use at home. This book would also be helpful for teachers who use LETRS teaching strategies in their classrooms.

I am so impressed! This resource is even more helpful than I had hoped. The lay out is beautifully intuitive and the printable resources are excellent. I can't wait to gift this book to my friends in special ed and reading support.

I love this Orrin Gillingham word list book! I'm able to quickly find a list of words that reinforce whichever phonics sound I'm teaching.

I knew from the moment I opened this book up, that it was going to be a great resource for anyone teaching reading! Valerie did an excellent job with the content and the layout of the dictionary. I really like the flash cards and printable resources found in the book. Homeschooling parents and teachers need this resource in their library.

I bought the three volumes. These books are excellent, excellent, excellent!! I have a kid with high functioning autism, ADHD, and mild learning disorders in reading and writing. My son was really struggling with spelling and unfortunately the special education department at his school was doing practically nothing. I am not a teacher at all but I could follow the book, explain him the rules of spelling, etc, and make him practice a lot. Other books are more confusing and they just give you a few words to practice. My son is progressing at an incredible pace with these books. I haven’t started with volume 3 yet but 1 and 2 were really amazing. I’ll buy the next volumes as soon are they are available, cannot wait. Highly recommend these!!!
