This guitar is alive!
I've played guitar for around 20 years now, though I just recently picked it up again after a fairly long hiatus due to moving, work, life in general, etc. I was looking for an inexpensive guitar to get back into the game again, but I have pretty high standards since I worked in a music store for a while in my youth and learned a lot about guitars and what goes into making a guitar "good". So, I was looking for a solid top dreadnaught to noodle around with at home, and I came across this Antonio Giuliani on Amazon. Hadn't heard of the name before, but the reviews and specs made me curious enough to add it to my short list, and eventually I decided to give it a go and picked it up out of all the ~$500 guitars on the market.First off, when it arrived I was impressed by the build quality. Everything about it felt smooth and slick, no warping, sharp edges on the frets, and the gloss finish didn't feel heavy or burdensome on the body. Tuners were tight and felt accurate and strong, and best of all the guitar didn't smell like a canoe. Even though there was some glue smell, you could still smell the wood itself and the glue seams inside the body were clean and neat. The gig bag that comes with the bundle is a VERY nice soft case, you could easily spend around $100 on a bag this nice, so that's a big bonus as well. Strings and picks in the bundle are meh, but that's an easy/cheap replacement and not really an issue as far as I'm concerned.Right out of the box, the DN-5 had great tone. Deep and rich with a good balance of highs mixed in to give it definition and clarity without sounding muddy. This has been enhanced further by using brighter strings after I've changed them around a few times since I bought it (using 80/20 bronze now, and it is super crisp and clean). But, for me the best thing is that this guitar feels alive in your hands. You can feel each note resonate through the body into your chest and it gives you a little thump on the chest when you hit a hard strum. The neck transmits these vibrations up into your left hand and arm as well and it really makes you feel connected to the music in a way I've seldom felt with most guitars. I've had this guitar for over a year now, and as with all solid top guitars, it's aging beautifully and the tone is developing more and more nuance. In summary. This guitar is inexpensive, but NOT cheap. There's a level of craftsmanship usually seen in guitars that cost nearly twice as much as this one. You get a LOT of bang for your buck from Antonio Giuliani, and it is worth every penny. Big names are all fine and good, but sometimes you find a gem in the smaller brands, and this is one of those.

In a tIme where $ is tight & much worry - A wonderful gift of music
My son's birthday has fallen right in the thick of the NYC Pandemic. As I work in the theater district, my livelihood (Front of house/playwright/composer) is shut down, so my limited funds to be spent especially well. Over the past year, my son has gone through a growth spurt and his fingers don't really fit on his hand-me-down guitar. But while we are social distancing, he is finding peace in music. He voluntarily sought out on-line guitar classes and I could hear him picking out melodies the best he could on our old guitar. So, I decided to get him a new full-sized guitar for his birthday, but I knew between escalated shipping time and cost, I would get one shot at finding the right guitar. After spending hours searching the internet I found Kennedy Violins. I had NEVER seen anything with 5-Star across the board. The reviews were fantastic, and they had clearance options! When I called the family based store in (I think) Oregon, person who helped me (YES, a PERSON!) patiently answered all my questions, and helped me chose the specific guitar that would best fit my sons needs both skill and size wise. SHe even helped me find a clearance version! Happily, I was able to keep it a surprise until it arrived. When he opened the package, he was wriggling like an excited puppy. Remember, this is a 15-yr old 6'4 teenager who isn't really prone to an outpouring of communication and emotion to his mom. However, I was given the gift of a TRUE happy smile - complete with sparkly eyes. He picked it up and strummed it, and the sound was pure and beautiful! I had no idea how bad our old guitar was until I heard the warm sounds coming out of this beautiful, solid and wonderful instrument, a piece of exquisite craftsmanship (and he was only playing chords!). He couldn't stop saying, "Thank you mom... no really. Thank you." He was so happy. He has been playing it every day since. It is a gift that he will remember his whole life. Add that to the fact that I know this guitar will last for many years so he can play songs to his kids and tell them the story of how he got this guitar during the dark days of the pandemic--- Thank you Kennedy Violins for having such pride in your work and helping me give this wonderful gift of memories and music. A++++, 5-Stars, Angelic tones.

Very high quality
I've played guitars all of my life and have owned many. This is, by far, one of the best-sounding instruments I have ever owned. The D5 fills the room with a rich and pure sound. I am quite happy with my purchase.

Great Little Guitar - Great Sound - Tunes Easily
Well crafted instrument, finish is satin, which I don't really care for. This is a small guitar, but tuned right up and held tune well. Full rich sound. Reminds me of an old Orpheum I had many years ago - which was my favorite of all time. Hope this is as nice. The gig bag is extremely well done. I would say - best you could do short of a hard shell. In fact, better than a cheap hardshell.Glad I bought it.

Neck was warped
First thing that surprised me and I thought was odd, was the way the guitar was packaged. Or lack there of. It came in a large box that looked like one could fit a twin mattress in there. When I opened the box, there was no bubble wrap or even padding paper to protect and cushion the guitar. It was just the guitar in the gig bag and lots of emptiness. And sure enough, the back of the guitar had nice dent in it that looked like some one had taken a shoe and hit the back with the heel. Not cool. Other than that, it looked really nice. I thought might as well tune and play it and see how it sounded. After I tuned it, I started playing it but noticed some of the strings were sounding muffled. I took a look down the neck and it had a bow in it. Totally uncool.Looked solidly built and thought I was getting a good deal but this experience with this guitar totally turned me off and into even looking at another Antonio Giuliani. Will stick with a Martin or a Taylor.
