Rick Steves Switzerland

I love this little book. It is broken down by towns, cities and areas. Suggestions for walking tours for each city, which I love! Also has suggestions for hotels and restaurants! He says to tear the book apart by section and carry the section that you need for that day, instead of the whole book. Crazy idea, I know, but I think that’s what I’ll do. Has all train info and how to get around also suggestions for itineraries! Overall a great book with a map and all the info you need for a great vacation! Rick Steeves never disappoints!

Traveled alone through Switzerland for two weeks ( female late 60s). Used many of the recommendations in the book in the places I visited. Found much of the information practical and useful Planned trip based on reading this book

Great for no nonsense travel advise. He won't send you to 5 star hotels or resturants, but will still send you to great places. Also advice on how to escape long lines. I've use his books on 12 trips to europe.

There was a lot of info contained in this book that helped in our planning for our trip to Switzerland this past October. We consulted it when we got there and carried it with us as we look his walking tours and explored. Will look into his other books as we plan future trips.

Liked all the info so we will not be afraid to go out on our own a bit. I DID NOT RECEIVE A MAP in this book. Would have been helpful. that is why i gave it 4 stars. I wonder if there should have been one like in the other tour books we received?

Great advice on how to visit Switzerland on your own. I loved how the advice is relevant for all types of vacation plans…both on the number of days available and also the type of vacation being planned ( eg Hiking, City sites etc).

My dad loves this show and is obsessed with Switzerland. I ordered this for Christmas and it arrived quickly. It’s a nice book and just like the show. My dad was very happy.

Very good to plan your own trip. Others books just have information but planning is missing.

... the thumbnail-sized B&W photos are an abomination. DK and other European publishers still manage to include color photos in their travel guides, so this penny-pinching publisher is one to avoid in general. Too bad Rick Steves hasn't been able to find something better.

Info on the alps, Lucerne and Zurich. Taking river cruise from Basil which was not really covered. I think Basil should receive a small chapter for the benefit of river cruisers who will be spending a night or two there.

He is a legend and his books are amazingly useful although this one I didn’t think was as thorough as some of the others
