I thought this would be a good idea to have in my camper van to prevent my death! I have a VW Westfalia van with a kitchen with a propane stove, as well as a propane heater which is vented outside the van. I also have a wood stove which I use outside the van in an attached tent, but I leave the sliding door of the van open to let the heat in. So I have a few ways to introduce toxic levels of carbon monoxide. I know it works because sometimes when I use my stove and forget to open a window (enough or at all) the alarm will go off and give me a readout of the level. The alarm is plenty loud enough to wake me up. Once I open a window or a door, I can watch the level continually drop on the digital readout. I like the 10 year battery, too... no need to worry about it for quite a while. A little red light will blink once every few minutes to let you know it is all good. So I'm very happy having this in my van and it should provide one less way to die.

I ordered 3 of these, one for each level of my home. Easy to set up and see the red light flash every once in a while to remind me they are working. Only thing I wish was made more clear is that nothing registers on the digital display under a certain percentage of Carbon Monoxide. In the air So unless there is a danger it will stay dark.Also, these look like they are light blue on the item page. When they arrived I was happy to see they were really an off white color. Much better for my decor.

The carbon monoxide detector I was sent appears to be defective. I read the instructions and removed the plastic battery tab as instructed but when I tried to test the unit by pressing the button, nothing happened. Neither the sound nor the light was triggered. It's possible that the design of this item is good and I just got a lemon but mine is not functioning at all and I hope to return it.

On 12/11/2015, I installed our new 305S alarm. It performed wonderfully, I think. It sat there sending out an intermittent red signal and life continued for most of us. Just the other day the signal sent no message. The batteries expired in almost 4 years and a long way from the warranted 10 years.I'll defer with my opinion until next month or not.
