THE EASY WAY TO CLEAN FAN - After using my Vornado 630 fan for many years, it had accumulated a thick layer of dust. I put the fan on the ground in front of my garage and aimed my leaf blower at it. A huge cloud of dust and dirt blew off the fan, and it is now clean!

I have an older Vornado 630 that says it was made in China. On the low setting it makes a soft low frequency air noise that I believe is now called "pink noise", that I much prefer to the higher frequency white noise. I also use soft ear plugs, and I can barely hear the fan, but it blocks other noises in the house. If my wife is watching TV, I turn the fan up to medium speed, which is somewhat louder but still ok with the ear plugs and blocks the sound from the TV in the next room.

Q: Does this make an annoying low pitched sound?

No noticeable sound while on low but a little bit of Vornado wind sound while on high and definitely not annoying.

Q: I'm looking for a good fan for a small 12'x12' room that is lacking a ceiling fan. Is this fan overkill for that size room or just right?

Hi---this fan has three speed settings, so depending on your need, this could be just right. On extra hot days, you might want to use the higher settings. Also, you can tilt the fan so it circulates air above you instead of hitting you directly.
