Long story short – my fuel tank cap recently broke, and this was an exact replacement.Since 1996, most vehicles have been equipped with an enhanced evaporative emissions control (EVAP) system that checks itself for leaks. If it finds one, like a leaking gas cap, it will turn on your check engine light. An inexpensive OBD2 scanner will tell you what’s making it come on, and in my case it was the gas cap.This cap fits my 2015 Kia Sorento perfectly. It’s identical right down to the writing on the cap, and the lanyard that fits into the little retention hole. I used a pair of needle-nosed pliers to squeeze the end of the old cap’s lanyard and pop it out. This new one just pops into the hole, and expands to lock in.I really appreciate that the lanyard fits so well. There’s a sliding sleeve around the cap that moves very freely, and when you put the cap on the lanyard fits itself perfectly under the cap. That might sound silly, but initially I purchased a cap locally that “fit” my vehicle. It had a crazy long, weird accordion type strap that didn’t fit well and interfered with the closing of the fuel cap door. I returned it and got this one.This cap isn’t a ‘keep turning and you’ll hear a ratcheting noise’, it’s a ‘turn until you hear one click’ thing. If you keep turning this cap, it will get tighter, unlike the ratcheting type which is kind of a clutch and just will keep turning and clicking.My check engine light’s off now, and I’m happy. I got this to be new on our car, old one didn't click right.Funny thing is this one doesn't click when tight either! Lol

Looks and works just like the original, CEL has not come back on since this was installed, hopefully it lasts.

Had to replace mine because of a dash warning. Easy to put on.

It did not solve the problem I thought, but no worries as there a deeper issue why the check engine light was on not just a worn gas cap. It fit perfectly and was very easy to install.
