I live in an apartment in a state that has legalized weed. I don't mind except for one little thing: people don't go outside to smoke weed unlike their cigarettes. This leads to some issues with air quality. As in, I walked into my bathroom and exclaimed, "Someone is taking 'wake and bake' seriously," because I could barely breathe due to the smell. At my desk all the way across my apartment, i could still smell it. Something had to change. Enter this fabric.I cut the fabric to cover both internal vents (we don't have central AC or heating, so we have few vents in our units) and used some waterproof Command strips to secure them in place. Since I put them in place, the smell is gone! It has been over a month and, since I know my building, that means they are working, not that management finally decided to do something about the smoking violations.Aside for context: I grew up with an asthmatic brother where even being in the vicinity of active smokers could set off an attack. As such, we were never near people smoking anything of any kind. I realized in college that this has made me extremely sensitive to smoke as well. I also have always reacted to most room fragrances, a common coverup device. This is helping me.

Update: it’s now July, after two months of running my AC continuously I need to remove and replace the filter material. I am happy to do so because it worksThis carbon filter works so so well and made such a huge difference actually blocking the cigarette smell for over two months. I highly recommend this product. This filter works. I put it on all the vents. Easy to cut. The foul smell is gone like magic. First the quality! I purchased it to replace the carbon activated filter on my hunter air purifiers. This material was a higher quality than the OEM and less than half the cost for 30% more material than what the purifier manufacturer was selling! Do the math! I will purchase it again!

I have roommates who smoke the heavy marijuana and I'm two bedrooms away and it still get the smoke in my bedroom after we installed the product charcoal filter and the cotton filter that goes on outside the vents two layers still don't know why that type smoke seeps threw the filter still three the AC vents

Used it to replace litter box filters. Twice in the descriptions it says 0.2” thick—it’s not. It is, however, 0.13” thick which it also lists TWICE in the other details part of the item. The 0.2” needs to be fixed because, like most shoppers, I review the item descriptions more than the “details” listings.

When I rate/ or Refer to this filter as, "Money Saver As Primary", I want you to understand that using it as the "PRIMARY" INTAKE FILTER(S) aids in duration of my central Cooling/ Heating outside or wall intake vents. Thus extending the filter's internal viable useful life 'up to' 6 months before potentially needing replacing. In any scenario they can be additionally, and I have vacuumed each 'monthly' as a method of my home maintenance. Filter is thin enough that I have actually also added to the units (internal) filtering intake filter to improve greatly 'MORE' than the usual or previous amount of particulates captured. Also, easily has been reusable, with any noticeable degradation in quality and thus handily/ easily reused. After all, they're already 'pre-cut' to size(s).

This will eliminate, or at least cut way back, on smoke, coming in through window fans during fire season.If your like me and don’t have an AC and filtering system, this may be a game changer for you. I have a vertical fan, so adjust these instructions as needed. I just cut a piece of this a as high as I needed and a bit wider than I needed. Then I placed the filter against my screen with a an inch or two with my window open enough to get my fan in. An inch or two of filter laid past the opening, between the window and the screen. I put the fan in place. I put in necessary risers to close gaps, I closed window on fan to hold it tight.Fan now operates without letting smoke in.

We had to issues with this filter, one normal and one...not so much.1. It didn’t allow for proper air flow. It made any room without the filter extra hot because of redirection of the forced heat.2. The smell of these petrified our dog. I’m not kidding. Our 80 pound golden retriever wouldn’t go near ANY vent that had this filter. We did one wall vent weeks before all the others as it was the worst culprit of carrying smoke smells from our god-awful neighbours. We noticed he would no longer go down this hallway, but we put it down to his unending list of quirks. And when I say not go down, I mean it. If his ball rolled there, he did not get it. If I was there, he would wedge himself under the adjacent table to be closer to me.Eventually we installed this filter on our main floor registers and upstairs wall air returns. The first night he wouldn’t come back in from outside as he had to cross the kitchen vent. Then tonight he wouldn’t come sleep with us as he had to pass the upstairs air returns. And our giant suck never misses an opportunity to sleep in the bed. Here’s where I started to clue what the issue may be. I brought over a piece of the filter and he shoved himself under the bed to escape it. Our final test was telling him someone was at the door - he normally runs to the window with wild abandon...right on top of a floor vent. Instead he paced the area and cried.Suffice to say we will be removing the filters and asking for a return ASAP.

We tried using a piece of it inside a mask while working with snowblowers, lawnmowers, etc. as it has been really hard to find store bought masks with a carbon filter since Covid started. It was not as effective as the store bought carbon mask I purchased previously, but it probably helped. I am sure it works well for filtering less thick smoke and other pollutants in a house air filter where it gets a few cycles to do it.

I have ordered these filters twice. Because they can be cut to any size I use them for kitty litter box lids and in my air purifier. The quality is better than the brand name filters that are pre-cut and is half the price.

I liked the option to cut to the size I needed. I pulled out the filter unit from my microwave, opened the frame and added the new charcoal filter, then closed the frame again. Popped it back in the microwave and back in business in 10 mins. Better on the environment to replace just the filter instead of the entire tin frame and grate. It also costs half the price of a new framed filter!

Been using for a week now and Since putting it under my vents def noticed reduction in dust and smoke smells. Air feels lighter. I also have two clean air humidifiers and will try putting some there before buying the more expensive hepa filter to see how that works
