"The Little Rose" is a first-class children's book.
As Little Rose is teased by weeds around her, she nearly gives up. She begins to learn to accept and love herself for what she really is, a beautiful rose. This book gives a child and parent, grandparent, or caregiver an opportunity to read a book together and can be used as a catalyst to begin important conversations.Mary Erikson Washam’s illustrations brought the words to life, creating a simply magical story. As a child, I was in a similar situation as Little Rose. I wish I had a book like this then. I have become a huge fan and feel this book, along with Sheri’s other books, should be used to help children find their voice.Well done, Sheri Fink. I look forward to following along with you through your journey and seeing what’s in the next chapter of your life.Jo MassaroWriter and AuthorFounder of Yahweh Sisterhood Book Clubwww.yahwehsisterhoodbookclub.comPresident of the Fort Wayne, Indiana Chapter of Word Weavers, Intl.

My 4 daughters loved this book
What a great read for kids with a positive message. This was exactly what we needed when kids were bullying one of my kids at school and it helped them to think about how they could go out of their way to be nice to others. I will definitely be buying other books written by this author.

... Rose shows all of us that we are all beautiful inside and when we are nurtured
The Little Rose shows all of us that we are all beautiful inside and when we are nurtured, nourished, and loved we become confident about who we are and we bring further beauty to others' lives. All of Sheri Fink's books are absolutely gorgeous and inspire both children and adults. After reading her books to my children, my 9-year-old daughter was moved to write her own story about a fish that was being bullied at school, and she was able to express how judgment can impact one's way of being negatively. I highly recommend all of Sheri's books to anyone who has a child in their life. You, too, will be moved, touched, and inspired.

A book with true inner beauty on every page!
As a grief recovery coach I am always looking for books that help children deal with grief at every level. Many people assume that grief is only experienced through the loss of another, but the loss of self-esteem and personal joy is one that can impact a lifetime. As a mom I also look for books that will entertain and inform. An added bonus is when they appeal to adults too...especially when my kids want the story read again and again. This beautifully written story combines a wonderful life lesson with an inspiring message that is endearing, entertaining, and enlightening. The Little Rose is a "must have" book for any age! My kids love it and so do I!

Disappointed
I am a huge fan of children's books, our children literally have a library and this book, for the price, didn't cut it. $25 for a hard copy children's book is on the high end and should be worth it. The book quality looks like it was printed at an office max. It looks and feels like a text book more than a children's book. The message is good but the style of writing bounces back and forth between too many reading levels. My children are 2, 4 and 8 - they all zoned out within the first couple pages; my wife and I are very involved narrators to our children and it didn't have our focus either. We returned it.

Beautifully simplistic & powerful
I have 2 year old twin boys who love to "read". I've read the book several times to them in the past few days and they now bring the book to me and say "Mommy, please read the happy rose book to us". Unlike other childrens books we have read, that sometimes have darker themes or inappropriate content especially for very young children, "The Little Rose" seems very appropriate for younger & older children. This is a beautiful book that will last many years to come and as the children get older they will understand different facets of the message. This is a very important book and it contains such an important message for children to be exposed to.

One In A Million
Once in a while you're lucky enough to come across a book that truly sparks the imagination. Every so often, you find a tale that invokes your feelings, mesmerizes your heart, and charms your soul. Occasionally, you find a story which floods your spirit with emotion, cuddles your being with joy, and embraces your mind with warmth. Rarely, you find a testament to children who, despite their environment, learn to believe in themselves. But, The Little Rose, as written by Sheri Fink, and illustrated by Mary Erikson Washam, is THAT book. It will change your life and your children's lives. Read it.

Overrated story and a horrible paper quality for a book
Against my gut feeling, I bought this book for my daughter, simply replying on all the superlative reviews it has garnered. After receiving it, the first shock came with the quality of the paper - absolutely unacceptable. Every other paperback that I have purchased so far costed nearly half of this one and had a paper quality ten times better. I hoped that at least the story would be awesome enough to cover for the lack of paper quality. Disappointed is the word! If we try to teach the message(s) from this story to an "average" kid who is (or may get in future) bullied, he wouldn't understand a bit of it. The flower that is being teased is already a "rose" - it just doesn't know that. And to top it off, we will have to tell kids that you can't stand up on your own even if you are a "rose", because you will need some external change to do that. I didn't get it. First book I regretted buying without first going through it myself at a physical store.

Low paper quality
I would have given it 3 stars if the paper quality was better, the papers are very thin.About the story: it's a little rose who's being bullied by other plants and one day a lady comes and takes it out of there and plants it with roses. Now I understand that it waa intended to be a good moral story that teaches children not to lose hope and to recognise their full potential, but there was no message of this sort in the book.
