My kids bought me the samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and i knew nothing about how they worked. I have had it for 6 mos and use it to go online and check news etc. I also play some games and have downloaded books to read, but I knew I was not taking advantage of all it could offer. When I got the book, i figured that i would read it from front to back BUT as i started reading i would get interested in something and then skip to another chapter to read about it. Crazy, but I have been all over the book with tabs sticking out everywhere. So much info I am glad I ordered this book and if you are like me -- I am sure you will enjoy it too.

Purchased a Samsung 10A tablet. I needed a reference book to learn the finer details as I a have a Samsung phone that operates similarly.

This Tab keeps interfering with my having a good nights sleep - I keep thinking of names and passwords. Does each individual thing have to have its own name and password? I'm overwhelmed with it. I'm 82 and I should not have started this to begin with. But I'm stubborn and as long as I have started it, I'm going to keep trying to use it! It isn't easy with all the log in names and passwords that are required. I've used Dummies books for many years and rely on them to help me get out of tight places. This one has not let me down.

There is one trouble with such books.A little after such books come out a new version of the tablet comes out and the book is no longer as helpful as expected.For example the book asks you to press START BUTTON in several places but in Galaxy Tab 2 there is no such button and many other buttons mentioned in the book are not there with the same names.Similarly with the icons.It would be helpful if such books give a list of the icons and the buttons at the beginning.Similarly a word of caution stating that that the company may bring out a new version of the product and the buttons,icons etc.mentioned in the book may not exactly correspond with those in the new version would be helpful.But for this the book seems to be ok.It does not go very far but it can be helpful to many. I have no criticism with the content and look of the book. It's what I needed to get me started with my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Dan Gookin is an intelligent writer who knows his subject, but why all the humor. A little humor is fine. To find "humor" on every page, though, is cloying. Why did the author do this? The first customer reviewer, Klkroft, wrote that the book had "a little humor" - I'm sure this was meant to be a positive statement, a compliment. If it were really a little humor I'd like it. But enough is enough even for a standup comedian.

There's lots of great information in here. As a new tablet user, this answered a lot of questions, even when some of the info didn't apply to my slightly different 8" Tab A model. But I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the author's too-frequent 'cutesy' comments you had to wade through to get to the actual, helpful information.

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 - an excellent machine which came with minimal user information - well, no user information if we are being honest. There was no book devoted to my specific machine but I assumed that the the 10.1 for Dummies book would suit my needs. Thankfully I was right. I purchased the e-book version and loaded it onto the Tablet but also onto my laptop, and my Kindle. Even an aging computer illiterate like myself was soon able to get the best out of my tablet. A few sections of the 10.1 Dummies book did not relate to my machine but it was always obvious which bits of the book were redundant. Just a few niggles - the main one being that navigation of the e-book was not good - pity they couldn't have arranged it so it could be navigated like my daily e-newspaper - this has dropped it down to 4 stars instead of 5. Also I found some of the author's jokes didn't match my sense of humour but that is a very minor niggle. All in all a good buy which tremendously speeded up my understanding of my tablet pc.

Yes I admit i'm one when it comes to tablets! The instruction book which came with the tablet was so basic that I printed out the manual from the Samsung website only to find it was almost exactly the same which explains why I ordered the manual for dummies.Samsung's idea for a manual to accompany the Tablet was so basic and left so much to one's imagination that I had to order the book. After many years of desk-top PC's running the numerous versions of Windows I did not find Android as intuitive as the "geeks" claim it to be-- which justifies my claim to dummy status! Should you be as stupid as me I can heartedly recommend the book although it still requires a bit of interpretation. While written specifically for the Samsung 10.1 the advice given does not always agree with what happens on the actual tablet. Having said that I could not do without it and can heartedly recommend Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 as being a tribute to the past experience of Dan Gookin in his earlier books for dummies.i did a little more to

I have used computers all my life and have a smart phone but was new to tablets when I noticed this book on Amazon.Although able to use the tablet for most purposes there where things that were new to me and this book has come in very handy, helping me to quickly learn various things rather the spend ages messing about trying to figure them out.I have lived in the US so the humour was just up my street, and it was very easy to understand the instructions.I would recommend this book to anyone who is new to the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 or similar Tablets as basically they are much the same and Samsung only provide their rather technical instructions online.

Not the sort of book you read from cover to cover but you can dip into it when necessary. From Day one, it helped me with setting up a pin on my tab also setting up security on my tab so I can find it (improbable) or disable it if stolen although you will still need the web for advice on the best app to do the job (or try Google Play Shop). It made me realise my tab could do much more than I thought and I am determined to read through it to start enjoying my tab again as I admit, after the initial excitement, I had got a little bored with it.Of course, it's a little outdated as new apps come on the market everyday and the index could be better so it only gets 4 stars.

I chose this book as this was my first ever Tablet purchase and sure enough it demystifies both the fundamentals and how to get the best out the Galaxy Tab. The layout is clear and hints, tips and warnings appear throughout. As not the most IT enabled person in the world I would thoroughly recommend this book as I am now confident using the Galaxy Tab to the extent I'd hate to go back to a laptop for most IT stuff! I would have given five stars but while the title suggests it is written for the Tab 10.1 it in fact covers all Galaxy Tabs and you have to be aware of the subtle differences (eg cell and wifi Galaxy Tabs) but this is not a major issue.
